Color Grading

Use the adjustment layers in Photoshop to


color grade your image. Keep adding layers
until you reach the desired result. Experiment
with different combinations to achieve
different results. Keep training your eye to
sharpen it to catch the right colors.

A good tip is to try to match the colors of a


reference photo, that you would like, to
achieve the best results.

Curves
Use Curves to add contrast to the image by creating an S-shaped curve. You can also tweak the colors of the image a bit but adjusting the curve for the
Red, Green and Blue channels individually.

Vibrance
Adjust the vibrance and saturation to control the intensity of the colors in the image.

Color Balance
Use the Color Balance to tweak the colors of the midtones, highlights and shadows individually. Color Balance also affects the contrast of the image -
use with blending mode “Color” to only affect the colors of the image.

Selective Color
Tweak each color of the image by adjusting the Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Black value for the individual colors.

Levels
Levels can be used to brighten up the image and to add contrast. You can also use it to make the image darker and add a mask to create a vignette
effect. Alternatively you can use Brightness/Contrast or Curves to achieve similar results.

Combine
Combine the different adjustment layers to achieve varias color gradings of your image. Keep looking at your references and try to match the colors.
