My name is Mr. Zarazua This is my
first year teaching eighth grade
English. I am a Ki-Be alumni and I
graduated from Central Washington
with my Bachelor's in English
Language Arts Teaching. I love
watching movies, reading, and
teaching.

Course description
In 8th grade English you will be reviewing many them. Students
will be required to make real-world connections and collaborate
with group mates in order to attain skills they will use as adults.
Recognizing that students learn in a variety of ways, various
strategies will be used in the classroom to help meet the needs
of each individual learner. Overall, students will develop skills in
researching, questioning, presenting, reading, writing, and
discussing films and texts.

In this class, lessons are creative and
touch upon many different disciplines.
You may make black out poems, movie
trailers, or build a car engine as a
research project if you want to. I will
help you see that English language
arts touches all facets of our lives and
imparts you with skills you will use the
rest of your life.
Alternate Assignments
I realize that not all material may
be suited for all students. In this
case, students may have a
replacement writing assignment
and go to a neighboring
classroom if they request an
alternate assignment.

Fourth strike: Behavior contract with parent and
administrative signature
Late work policy
I believe in giving everyone an opportunity to learn. When you don't
turn in work on time it will only get harder. Our work builds upon the
previous day's classwork. Managing your time so you can complete it
or ask for help is your responsibility. Missing work will be marked with a
zero in the gradebook until turned in. I accept late work until the very
end of the grading period for 70% credit.
absent policy
If you are absent you are responsible for all missed work. Missed
handouts can be found in the absent bin. You are responsible for
checking our Microsoft Teams for any work and turning in work
within 24 hours of your return unless otherwise stated.
