1. What us a child care portfolio?
A child care portfolio is a structured collection of records that gives an
individualized portrait of a child's development over time at your
center. It captures the child's unique self, their progress and their place
in your child care community.
According to Jean Piaget a childcare portfolio
Jean Piaget's theory of cognitive development suggests that intelligence changes as
children grow. A child's cognitive development is not just about acquiring
knowledge, the child has to develop or construct a mental model of the world.
Cognitive development occurs through the interaction of innate
capacities and environmental events, and children pass through a series
of stages.
According to Meisels and Steele (1991), portfolios enable children to
participate in assessing their own work; keep track of individual
children's progress; and provide a basis for evaluating the quality of
individual children's overall pperformance.m

2. The benefits of having a child care portfolio are:
It helps to enhance the learning purpose of teaching.
It helps to keep track of children’s work progress which will show the
different learning development.
It helps children’s in assessing their own work .
It helps with the basis of evaluating the quality of individual
children’s overall performance.
It help parents to gain clearer knowledge and understanding of their
children’s abilities.
It helps parents to share with other family members and relatives of
their children’s progress.
It’s a proof to show that children’s does work in school to parents
and school administrators or it any legal matter arises.

Observing young children in a natural setting has become an increasingly major
focus of research in each childhood education; the findings has contributed
significantly to our understanding of children’s interactions with peers, caregivers,
materials, and the physical environment (Early Child Development and Care 1983
Vol. 10. pp 147. In this process, it first I begin to see the world from the children’s
point of view, in doing so I was able to describe a more, subtle experience of the
children. this one child who stood out from the rest of the children. His name is
Dreyton Wallace, he was assigned the role to change the daily chart to it’s correct
day. I was really amazed at what I was seeing. When he finished they went across
to the
Montly chart corner and he did that same thing once more.

Conclusion
According to Erikson the bond between a young child and parents and
primary caregivers” so it important to pay attention to children’s and
record for future development .After all children grow and they are
important to us.
