Plate 1

Good day, students

Today I will be requiring you to comply this plate requirement. Instructions are given on page 5.
1) Part I: Hand drawn plates using Graphical Position Analysis
i) Specifications:
Link Length (in) Theta Degrees (°)
L1 3.52 ϴ1 0
L2 1.25 ϴ2 118
L3 4.00
L4 2.00
Lcp 3.00
Lpd 2.00

Determine the angular position of L3 & L4 assuming that the figure above is drawn
roughly to scale. Also, determine the (x,y) location of point P considering that the origin
is at A0.
ii) Specifications:
Link Length (mm) Theta Degrees (°)
L1 90 ϴ2 18
L2 60
L3 200
L5 80
L7 150

Determine the horizontal distance of L6 from the origin B0 assuming that the figure
above is drawn roughly to scale. Also, determine the distance from B0 to pin C.
iii) Specifications:
Link Length (in) Theta Degrees (°)
L1 3.00 ϴ1 0
L2 6.38 ϴ2 25
L3 4.00
L4 4.50

Determine the angular position of links 3 and 4 assuming the figure above is drawn
roughly to scale.
2) Part II: CAD plates using Fusion360 and Graphical Position Analysis
i) Consider the slider crank specifications:
Link Length (mm) Theta Degrees (°)
L1 30 ϴ1 270
L2 55 ϴ4 0
L3 210
Lcp 84
Lpd 170

Find the current location of point P = (Px, Py) and plot Py vs Px to show the true shape of the
coupler curve generated of point P starting at ϴ2 = 0° to 360° at an increment of 5°. Consider the
origin at A0.
Instructions are as follows:
1) Part I Instructions
i) All graphical solutions should be hand drawn.
ii) Graphical solutions should be in a standard engineering drawing format including
your handwriting which should also be in the engineering standard.
iii) You don’t have to copy the original kinematic chain. You can proceed with the
solution.
iv) Construction lines will not be erased. This is to show the proper execution of the
graphical position analysis.
v) Only one kinematic chain per paper.
vi) Your plate should have the standard border template indicating the plate no.,
page/problem no., student and instructor’s name, etc.
vii) Scan all the part I papers and merge it to the part II solution paper.
viii) If your drawing paper is too small, you can scale the dimensions of the kinematic
chain.
ix) You can use any paper size as long as it is a white paper with no lines. The least paper
size that you can use is A4.
2) Part II Instructions
i) Use Fusion360.
ii) Construction lines should be preserved and should be a dash line type.
iii) Three kinematic chains should be shown on the final paper. The kinematic chain at
0°, 120°, and 270°. This will be put beside your Py and Px plot.
iv) Your plate should have the standard border template indicating the plate no.,
page/problem no., student and instructor’s name, etc.
3) General Instructions
i) 4 papers are expected from your Plate 1. 3 from part 1 and 1 from part 2.
ii) Submit the whole plate 1 as one pdf file. Make sure that the scanned copy of part 1 is
clean and all the lines/letters can be recognized.
