1. Discuss the function of dressing and bandages (H9IS-IIIc-d-39)
2. Demonstarte the appropriate bandaging techniques for common or
unintentional injuries
3. Appreciate the importance of giving first aid to the injured person.

B. ACTIVITY PROPER:

A. INTRODUCTION

Dressing – is a piece of steriled cloth that covers a wound to prevent infection and /or to stop
bleeding.
Adhesive Dressing – are used mainly for small wounds. They come in many different sizes,
including specific trypes for placement on fingers.
Gauze Dressing – a thick cotton pads used to cover larger wounds.
Bandages – are used to apply pressure bleeding for covering wounds and burns; providing
support to immobilization for broken bones, sprains and starins.

Three main types of Bandages:


1. Triangular bandage
2. Tubular bandage
3. Circular bandage

Parts of Triangular bandage:

Cravat – a triangualar shaped textile that can be used to sling and support injuries,
immobilize fractures and dislocations or bandage wounds.

Square knot – a knot to make and useful in the first aid from securing bandages or tying
packages.

COLD COMPRESS – is used to reduce swelling and relieve pain, especially used for sprains and
strains
HOT COMPRESS – is used to allow normal blood circulation
COLD and HOT COMPRESS - are applied alternately for closed wound or contusions.

B ACTIVITY : Proper folding and Bandaging (10mins)


Perform the activity based on their groupings
Each group will shhowcase their work but will be graded individually

C. ANALYSIS:
1. Why we should use dressings and bandages on wounds?
2. Can we use any cloth as a dressing and bandage? Why?
3. Aside from wound, what other injuries where we can use dressing and bandages?

D. ABSTRACTION:

Why is it necessary to apply the proper techniques on applying dressings and bandages?
E. APPLICATION:

Name some materials at home or in school that can be used as dressings and bandages. Include
their uses and importance.

IV. EVALUATION

For 20 points, Why should we use dressing and bandages?

V. ASSIGNMENT

1. How will you bring the victim to a safe place?


2. Answer diagnostic assessment on page 321 of your Health book. Write your answers on
your assignment notebook.
