LEARNING OUTLINES
Recognise Addition (Textbook – Page: 56 - 57)
1. Pupils talk about the topic with guidance.
2. Start with the stimulus page of the topic as the set induction.
Start-up Activities (Textbook, p. 55)
• Introduce the lesson by asking pupils about the different toys and what
their names are. Encourage pupils to say the names out loud.
3. Pupils listen to teacher’s explanation and the connection with the topic.
4. Pupils understand the concept of addition via simulation and the use of vocabulary related to the addition concept.
5. Turn to page 56 and 57 and teacher points to the symbols for addition and
say them aloud. Pupils repeat after the teacher (Textbook, pp . 56-58).
6. • Use the pictures on the pages to introduce basic facts number sentences:
Main Activities 4 + 2 = 6; 3 + 4 = 7 etc.
•Pass around Activity Sheet 2.1
7. Pupils understand the meaning of addition and equal to symbols.
8. Pupils carry out the activities using concrete materials and relate it with pupils’ real life to enhance understanding.
9. Pupils complete the exercises given by the teacher. (Activity book – Page: 69 - 72)
10. Pupils carry out simple quiz.
