International Accounting (top-up) (distance learning)

BA (Hons) As the accounting and finance industry is expanding there is a growing demand for graduates with knowledge not only in the key areas of accounting but also financial services and financial management.

Course content
The course aims to provide the student with an in-depth knowledge of accounting and finance in an international setting to provide a sound framework for those wishing to pursue further study or to enhance employment opportunities. It has been primarily designed for those interested in accounting as users of accounting information rather than providers. The course is also suitable for those who may be interested in following a career in commerce or in the not-for-profit sector and for those thinking of continuing academic study. Successful completion of the degree will offer the opportunity for graduates to enrol on a one-year MSc Accounting and Finance programme. During this course, students will learn about the key aspects and developments in the delivery of international accounting and financial management, examining current trends in international financial regulation and developing skills of criticism and analysis. By the end of the course, students will be able to understand and evaluate the factors shaping the financial environment, both in the UK and internationally. This top-up programme concentrates on detailing advanced accounting concepts and current trends and developments in finance. Core modules include advanced accounting and international finance. In addition, students can choose a finance issue of particular interest to them and, with the support and guidance of a project supervisor, complete a 12,000 word project.
