Sports Fan - A person who is enthusiastic about sports.

How to be a real sports fan?

1. You must support the team from the area where you grew up.

2. In the event that your city does eventually get a franchise, you’re allowed the choice of

sticking with your current team or following the new one.

3. No bandwagon jumping.

4. If you move to another city for further education or work reasons, you’re not allowed to

change your allegiance to the team in that are (unless the city where you grew up had no

professional team; see rule one.

5. Even if your favorite player is traded away/signs elsewhere as a free agent, you cannot start

supporting his/her new team.

6. A free pass comes into effect if a family member plays professionally for a team from another

city.

7. If your city has more than one team in a particular sport, you can’t support both teams.

8. No personalized jerseys.

9. There is no justification whatsoever to be a Boston Celtics, New York Yankees or other sports

team.

Types of Sports Fan

The Homer

- The fan of the hometown team. This the diehard, local, live and die, bleed the color of the team,

how grown fanatic.


- This is a person who hold season tickets that have been in his family for generations.

College Homer

- This is the residing student of the local college. He or she might be from another part of the

country but has adopted their alma mater as their home team.

Transplant Homer

- This is a homer who has moved from his hometown due to economic, romantic or educational

reasons.

The Wayward

- This is a devoted, diehard fan of a team that is not their home town or home state.

The Bandwagoner

- This fan has no allegiance to any team.

- It is a temporary love affair with the organization that is winning or most popular at that

point in time.

The Fantasy Leaguer

- This fan cares only for specific players, not team, and if those said player will earn him or her

points to advance in the fantasy league for which they are a participant.

The Love Interest

- This fan has changed colors because of the person they are dating or courting.

The Ex – Pro

- This person is a former professional athlete.

- Former professional athletes are not fans of specific teams in the sport they once played

including their former employer.


The Impresser

- Unlike the Bandwagoner this individual does not know the sport of the team he is

pretending to follow.

- He is a pseudo fan who want to impress a certain individual or group.

The Gambler

- An individual who loves the team about to make him money and hates the one who causes him

to lose it.
