Keeping in mind the COVID19 pandemic and the unprecedented effect it has had on all of us,
and students, in particular, India Spelling Bee now has some changes to cope with the new
situation.
This guidebook is very useful but you have to refer to it regularly. Use a notebook to
practise and make sentences with the words given. Solve the exercises and read a lot.

and regretted. The spellings are based on the UK English using The Oxford Dictionary as the point of
reference.
This guide book is for participants of India Spelling Bee only. It is not for public circulation. The contents
have been prepared by the ISB team using various internal resources and some publicly available

A. The old lady pulled her spectacels down and looked over them about the
room; then she put them up and looked out under them. She seldum or
never looked through them for so small a thing as a boy; they were her state
pair, the pride of her heart, and were built for "style," not service -- she
could have seen through a pair of stove-lids just as well. She looked perplexd
for a moment, and then said, not feircely, but still loud enough for the
furneture to hear.

B. Land is a major factor in food cultevation. There are sevaral reforms, that
can increase the area under cultivation and the yeild. Land exhaustion
happens when the land doesn't have sufficent minerals and salts required
for cultivation. With each passing year, land exhaustion increases the need
for more fertilizers to produse the same amount of yield. These lands can be
reclaimed through suitable intervention such as addition of lime,
phosphorus and other minerals.

D. At the same time, our country India is bountiful both in terms of human
resourses as well as natural resources. It is only due to this reason that our
country has atracted many foreign invadors since time imemorial. Today, at
this juncture, we need to ponder what is wrong with the employment

E. Increesed food production will itself not serve the purpose of equal
distribution among mases. The Public distrebution system is doing the a lot
in this direction, but the Government on its alone cannot feed the large
population. There are many private organisations who run charitabel
trusts, old age homes and refujee camps. Many religious institutions like
madrasas , churches, temples are also doing their bit by feeding large
segments of people free of cost.
