Pop-Stop (Completed Version)
The set includes 72 pieces for elementary level, 48 ones for pre-intermediate level, 48
ones for intermediate and above level, 12 pieces with “POP-STOP” mark, 12 blank
templates in order to write your own words, and a template for making a box. The pieces
for elementary level are marked with a red circle. The pieces for pre-intermediate level
are marked with a blue circle. The pieces for intermediate and above level are marked
with a green circle.
RULES:
All the pieces are mixed well ( they must include “word” pieces and “POP-STOP”
ones as well) and put in the box. Students work in a group. The number of students
in a group doesn't matter. In turn every student has to pick up a piece. If he gets a
“word” piece, he has to pronounce this word correctly. If he does it right, he gets 1
point ( he needs some paper to write down his points). If he fails to pronounce it
right, this piece goes back to the box. The next student continues the game. If a
student gets “POP-STOP” piece, he loses all his points. The student who gets the
maximum points is the winner.
If your students are pre-intermediate level, it's still recommended to use both pieces for
elementary and pre-intermediate levels , but if a student gets a piece with a red mark
(elementary level), he gets 1 point for his correctly pronounced word, if he gets a piece
with a blue mark (pre-intermediate level), he gets 2 points for his correctly pronounced
word. This way the game will be more fun.
The same principle is recommended for intermediate and above students. Getting a piece
with a red mark, a student gets 1 point for his correctly pronounced word, a piece with a
blue mark gives him 2 points, and a piece with a green mark (intermediate and above level)
provides him with 3 points.
ATTENTION:
This task requires teacher's active participation to check correct pronunciation of
students.
