Unit 1: Introduction to Rhythm

I. RHYTHM
Lesson 1: Sound

Activity 1

Directions: Listen to the sounds created by your teacher. Draw the sounds you hear on the given
box.
Activity 2
Directions: Look for pictures that create sounds from old magazines. Cut and paste these on the
given space above. Identify them.
Lesson 2: Silence

Silence means rest.


Activity 3

Directions: Study the different kinds of rest. Draw the different kinds of rest above nicely and
neatly. Draw each rest four times.
Lesson 3: Rhythm

Activity 4

Tap the table with both hands for all number 1 that signifies strong beats. Clap with both hans for
all numbers 2, 3 and 4 that signifies weak beats.
Activity 5

Dyrections: Group the notes according to the given meter by drawing a bar line (/), Place an
accent (>) above the strong beat.

Lesson 4: Band
Activity 6

As you see
the folk song,
see the given
number of your group and strike once on the assigned material to produce sound of rhythmic
band.

Create Movements!
We can Create Movements by feeling the rhythm of the songs while singing. Let’s try creating
the movements with these songs.

Unit 1: Let us Move Our Bodies

from the starting line. The group that finishes first wins the game and gets the highest grade.

gets the highest grade.

Lesson 4: Play
LET US PLAY, RUBBERHAND TOSS
This game must be played by groups with 3 to 4 members.

Directions: Each child must have twnty rubberhands. The teacher draws a circle for each group
about five to six meters away where each player alternately throws a rubberband inside the
circle. If a player’s rubberband is able to overlap one or two of another player’s rubberbands, the
first player gets them as a prize. The game continues until a player has no more rubberbands to
throw. The player with the most rubberbands wins the game.
