All Intensive English Language Program courses are scheduled by clock hours (1 hour = 50 minutes). Students required to maintain full-time status
must register for 18-22 clock hours each semester. All students must complete a placement test when beginning the program to determine their
Global Scale of English (GSE) level. All full-time students must attend three progress test appointments each semester.

Attendance Policy

A student must attend at least 80% of each class to be eligible to study in the Intensive English Language Program. Attendance starts the first day of class. Students with F-1/J-
1 visas must be full-time (18 hours) and attend regularly in order to remain in status with the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). Failure to meet the
guidelines of the Intensive English Language Program attendance policy may lead to the withholding of a student's certificate of completion, being placed on attendance
probation, or being dismissed from the program which would terminate a student's F-1/J-1 visa status. Part-time students are subject to the same attendance policy and
should attend class regularly. Part-time students who have excessive absences will be dealt with on an individual basis by the Center for International Education office.
