NARRATIVE REPORT
EARTHQUAKE DRILL

Strengthening disaster prevention, mitigation and preparedness is one of the key to

address the vulnerabilities of children inside and outside the school. With the increasing
effects of climate change, it is important to raise the awareness and capacities of
children to prepare for and manage possible disasters and/or emergencies. This is also
intended to influence family preparedness as the learners could share and apply their
lessons at home.

With this matter, San Pascual National High School held the earthquake drill last
August 8, 2019 at their resective ground. The said drill was mandated by the
Department of Education pursuant to the DepEd memo series of 2014.

Prior to the event, the earthquake drill coordinator, Mr. Argie M. Martillana,
conducted the plan and made the comittee in corrdination with the school principal, Mrs.
Hilda S. Secillano to facilitate the said dril. He oragnized the following: Disaster
Mangement Team, Medical Team, and Rescue team which were headed by Mr. Orly A.

composed of teachers, medical team and rescue team with the students undergoing
first aid lesson in their class together with the boys and girls scout of the Philippines.
The SSG Officers were also cooperation on the event to make it successful. All
members of the eam were responsible for the proper observance on hoe the students
responded to a certain disaster like earthquake. There was an orientation made at hand
to all year levels by their respective adviser before the day of the drill. The medical team
also prepared the kit and facilities needed for the said drill with the assistance of the
SSG officers. The rescue team composed of boys and girls scout of the Philipines also
practiced how to rescue people under certain condition. All the necessary equipements
were being prepared for assessing any untowards incidents. As part of the drill plans,
injured students were presented to visualize the actual scenarion if how the team
responded once an incident happenned in real life situation.

On the day of the drill, everybody was very busy dong thier assigned tasks and
respomsibilities as part of the team. The students by this time were doing their daily
routine as if it was an ordinary day for them. It was 2 o’clock when the megaphone
sounded and everyone was alarmed. The team kept the students safe through the go
signal of the school principal. Student were following the duck, cover and hold position
as they stayed on a safe place inside the classroom. The second alarm sounded afetr
60 seconds and they were asked to evacuate the classrooms together with the
advisers. These were done calmly and proper movement to avoid panic or stampede
during the event and by the used of the duck drop.
The medical team was already outside and waiting for the casualties and injuries (if
there’s any) for assistance. There were students who acted as victims/casualties in the
said calamity. They were discovered after the headcount when somebody was missing
in each of the section. They were assisted by the rescue team to bring them out from
the building freely. Likewise, everybody was already in the site which was also properly
established to make the students/victims safe, secured and well guarded. The said drill
was successfully done through the effort and cooperation of the members of the school
