A seed being planted in a small pot will never grow progressively than those seed which

is being planted in a field with healthy soil. Just like in human lives, a person will never grow in
a place wherein there are limited things and opportunities to grab into.
According to the last report of Philippine Statistic Authority there are 1.77 million
Filipinos broaden the horizon of their hope to gain progress in life by venturing to work abroad.
They are called OFW’s. 83.6 percent of what we called “Makabagong Bayani” (OFW’s) was
from Asia and 280,000 of them chose to work in the land of the rising sun, Japan. This country is
known for being resilient and being advance in regards on technology. It pioneers the
modernization and advances of technology development in Eastern Asia which is the reason why
a lot of Filipinos wanted to work in this nation. A lot of open doors to enter, a lot of opportunities
to grab and a lot of dream to achieve.
Everyone knew that the salary abroad are triple times of the salary which is being given
in the Philippines. The salary in a motherland may be enough to feed a family but not enough to
give them a comfortable life. Working hard but not being paid justifiably is a normal situation of
a lot of Filipino workers in the Philippines. This is one of the major reason why we shouldn’t
blame those who chose to work abroad such in Japan.
A lot of Filipinos who goes abroad hopes to end their catastrophe. They’re keeping their
hopes high of transitioning their “dream” into a “dream come true” even though it means that
they are sacrificing the time of being together with their love ones. It is not easy to deal with, but
for the sake of giving comfortable life for their family, they keep on enduring the feeling of
being alone on a foreign land for years.
Working 24/7, cuddling only pillows at night, reminiscing the feeling of being together
with love ones only through pictures or photographs and finding comfort virtually through video
call makes their life. Ofw’s are being satisfied in a thought of their family living the dream they
want.
We must show appreciation to our “MAKABAGONG BAYANI” and always let them
feel that they are understood and well-appreciated.
As an OFW, the reason why I go in this country, Japan, is not just all about giving my
family a comfortable life but also to be more globally competitive, socially aware and a
productive one. I know, this step of mine will be my crown to move forward and make my life
more meaningful.
As a saying goes in tagalog “nag-aabroad lang para may mapakain sa pamilya, In
English, People just going to abroad to give the needs of his family, But most of the people
didn’t know the courage, the hardships, and the heart of the OFW’s to be a far with his family
just to achieved his dreams and give them the things that they deserved.
Japan, is a great country that gives hopes and opportunities for every OFW’s especially to me.
Living in this country makes me belief that life is full of surprises, full of opportunities and full
of kind and amazing people. This is what I’m feeling blessed. People here in Japan are very kind
hearted and has a helping hands. I love this country for being generous and giving me an
opportunity to be more prosperous.

I believe, sacrificing makes our life meaningful. It will drive us to reach our dream, be great and
more determined. No dreams comes easy but with a hopeful heart and strong faith, nothing is
impossible.
