Level 2 - Cluster 1

PROJECT

Project duration: Two (2) weeks

INSTRUCTION TO CANDIDATES: Read the following guidelines carefully before you begin. If you
have any questions, direct them to your instructor.

i. Candidates are required to work in groups of two (2).

ii. Examine and interpret the diagram, instructions, and specifications for the allotted tasks.

iii. Material selection MUST be done by individual groups.

You are required to do ALL aspects of the tasks assigned.

Tasks
Install a plug and lighting circuit according to the schematic diagram given.

(i) Lay out the electrical accessories as outlined on the diagram (dimensions are not drawn to
scale).

(ii) Connect the circuit so that:

- Lamp 1 (L1) is controlled from three (3) different switching positions.

- the photocell controls Lamp 2 (L2).

- the surface switch controls the surface lamp – Lamp 3 (L3).

(iii) Connect the outlet circuit according to the Jamaican Standard and Institute of Electrical
Engineers (IEE) Regulations.

Note

(i) All major tests MUST be carried out.

(ii) Where measurements are not indicated, the most suitable alignment must be used.

(iii) You are also required to create a video lasting no longer than 20 minutes, demonstrating the
laying out and wiring of the circuit, which must be given to your instructor for uploading.
