a. Hi [FIRST NAME] –

Thanks for taking a few minutes to explain your Traeger experience. We pride
ourselves on making grills that raise the bar on outdoor cooking, but I can see
from your email that we haven’t delivered on that experience. I’m going to do
everything I can to fix that.

b. Hi [FIRST NAME] –

Thanks for reaching out. I can see that it took some time to describe what’s
happening with your grill, and I really appreciate the details. Let’s get this turned
around for you and get you back to grilling again ASAP!

c. Hi [FIRST NAME] –

My name is [AGENT NAME]. Thank you for reaching out to Traeger for
assistance. Based on the information you provided, we are off to a good start in
understanding what is going on so we can resolve this for you quickly and get you
back to Traegering.

2. Complex Troubleshooting

I’ve reviewed your email and can see that there are some things we need to check
on to pinpoint the exact issue. In situations like you’re experiencing, I usually
recommend that we find a time to get on the phone so we can walk through it
together. If you like that idea, go ahead and give us a call at 1-800-TRAEGER
(800-872-3437) next time you’re with your grill.

If you’re more of a DIY person, here are some steps you can follow to fix the
problem:

As always, we are happy to help. Please give us a call at 1-800-TRAEGER if you

get stuck along the way or just want to say hello and exchange recipes.

3. Temperature Fluctuations - <25° Swing (implied, stated, or unknown)

I can see from your email that the temperature inside the grill is wandering a bit.
Temperatures can vary during your cook. This will not affect the quality of your
food or the time to cook as long as the temperature on the display is within 25° of
the temperature you set your grill on.

Cooking on a Traeger might be different from what you experience with the oven
in your kitchen. On an oven, the display shows the set temperature, whereas, with
a Traeger, the controller is showing you the actual temperature, which includes
some normal fluctuation. Your oven often experiences this as well – you just
don’t see it.

Here are some tips to help keep the temperature more consistent:

 Make sure your pellets stay dry – they should look shiny and feel crisp.
 Clean your grill regularly, especially the firepot.
 Keep the temperature probe clean and shiny.
 Don’t let the hopper run out of pellets.
 Resist changing grill temp frequently. Give your grill time to get to the desired
temperature before making another change, whenever possible.
 Temperatures can fluctuate after adding cold food to the grill or after you open
the lid and can take a few minutes to get back to the set temperature
 Make sure you leave space around the outside of the rack for air to freely flow
all around the grill. Overloading the grate to the edges can disrupt normal
convection air flow. (The same can be true with drip pan liners not inserted
properly and aluminum foil on the drip pan placed in such a way to prevent
good airflow circulation.)

4. Temperature Fluctuations - >25° Swing (Implied or stated)

As I read your email, it seems to me that the temperature is not in line with what
you or I would expect. Although it’s normal for temperatures to vary during your
cook, we generally wouldn’t see variations greater than 25°.

 Temperatures can fluctuate after adding cold food to the grill or after you open
the lid and can take a few minutes to get back to the set temperature.
I also want to give you a link to a video we made that might help:
https://youtu.be/7aulo6Iv9Ng

Now, I’m going to assume you’re already doing these things. So, let’s look into
another solution.

The best way to fix temperature fluctuations is to be sure to follow the correct
start-up process. Your grill requires the [OPEN LID or CLOSED LID] start-up
process. Here are the steps for the [OPEN LID or CLOSED LID] start-up:

[INSERT CORRECT START-UP STEPS]

It’s also important to follow the correct shut-down process after each cook. Here
are those steps:

 After you are done cooking, turn the grill to the Shut Down setting on the
controller and allow the 10-minute Shut Down Cycle to complete.
 The induction fan will shut off automatically after 10 minutes.
 After the induction fan shuts off, turn the power switch to the off position.

5. Grill Fires

[If grill is NEW, add this first paragraph to the beginning]

Let’s first take a look at the initial seasoning process. That is very important
because this is how you burn off the oils on the metal surfaces left over from
manufacturing. Here is a video describing the correct way to season your grill:
https://youtu.be/HqmWa8-5y60

[If grill is NOT NEW, start here]

Grill fires are the result of one of two things: either 1) there are too many pellets
in the firepot when you start your cook, or 2) grease from a previous cook has
collected inside of the grill. I'll describe how to prevent each of these from
happening.

To ensure that we don't have too many pellets in the firepot when you go to use
your grill, it’s important to follow the correct shut-down process after each cook.
Here are those steps:

 After you are done cooking, turn the grill to the Shut Down setting on the
controller and allow the 10-minute Shut Down Cycle to complete.
 The induction fan will shut off automatically after 10 minutes.
 After the induction fan shuts off, turn the power switch to the off position.
We also want to make sure that no grease is collecting inside of the barrel. This
can happen if the drip tray was not installed correctly. Please take a look at the
drip tray and make sure the grease is pouring out of the grill and into the small
grease bucket on the side.

I can understand how scary it is when the grill gets really hot because of a fire. I
am confident that if you follow these steps as you continue to use your grill that
you won't continue to have flare-ups. Thousands of people use their Traeger grills
every day without these issues, and I am sure we can help you have a great
experience going forward.

6. Temperature Spikes (Tunneling)

Sudden temperature spikes in the middle of your cook happen when too much
fuel (pellets) are fed to the firepot. I'll explain how this happens.

As you are grilling, some of the pellets that would normally fall into the hole at
the bottom of the hopper stack up against the walls of the hopper. We call this
"tunneling" because you can see through to the auger hole, with some pellets
stacked up on the side of the hopper walls. When this happens, the grill increases
the auger speed to feed enough pellets to maintain the temperature you set the
grill to. A slight bump can cause pellets to settle in the hopper, and then you have
too many pellets making their way to the firepot. As this happens, your
temperature starts spiking. The grill will automatically adjust for this and bring
the temperature down by slowing the auger speed, but I'm sure you want to avoid
the whole thing!

We have a part that I'll send you called a hopper insert. It'll help prevent pellets
from hugging the walls of the hopper instead of feeding the auger tube, where
they belong. I’ll go ahead and send one out to you.

That said, you can still use your grill until this part arrives. I recommend peeking
inside the hopper every couple of hours just to make sure there are enough pellets.
You want to make sure you can't see the hole at the bottom of the hopper. If you
can, your grills is not being fed enough pellets to work properly. Just stir the
pellets off the hopper walls to get them to settle or add more pellets.

7. Grill Not Getting Hot Enough on High – Not Timberline

When your grill is set to High, the normal temperature range is 425 - 450°F. If
your grill is able to reach 425°F then there is no need to perform additional
troubleshooting.

If your grill is not able to reach 425°F on the High setting, there are a few things
you can do to help your grill reach this temperature:
 First, ensure you are following the correct start-up procedure. Here are the
correct start-up steps for your grill: [INSERT MODEL-SPECIFIC PROCESS HERE]
 It’s also important to follow the correct shut-down process each time. Here are
those steps:
o After you are done cooking, turn the grill to the Shut Down setting on
the controller and allow the 10-minute Shut Down Cycle to complete.
o The induction fan will shut off automatically after 10 minutes.
o After the induction fan shuts off, turn the power switch to the off
position.
 Make sure your Traeger-brand pellets stay dry – they should look shiny and feel
crisp.
 Clean your grill regularly, especially the firepot.
 Keep the temperature probe clean and shiny.
 Don’t let the hopper run out of pellets.
 Resist changing the grill temperature frequently. Give your grill time to get to
the desired temperature before making another change, whenever possible.
 Temperatures can drop after adding cold food to the grill or after you open the
lid and can take a few minutes to get back to the set temperature.
 Make sure you leave space around the outside of the rack for air to flow freely
around the grill grate. Overloading the grate to the edges can disrupt normal
convection air flow. (The same can be true if drip pan liners are not placed
properly or if aluminum foil overhanging the drip pan is preventing good airflow
circulation.)

When you start your grill, the ambient temperature displayed on the controller
panel should be within 10°F (+ or -) of the temperature outside. If the grill has
been out in the sun, the ambient temperature might read hotter than normal due to
the barrel absorbing and insulating heat.

In addition to these helpful tips, it’s important to keep in mind that especially cold
weather outside can make it difficult for your grill to reach the highest
temperatures.

If you’ve followed these steps and are still unable to achieve a temperature of
425°F on the High setting, please reach out to one of our Traeger Techs by calling
1-800-TRAEGER (800-872-3437). We’ll get you grilling again ASAP!

8. Grill Not Getting Hot Enough on High –Timberline

When your grill is set to High, your grill should be able to reach 500°F within 35
minutes of start-up. If you can, then it is operating normally and there is no need
to perform additional troubleshooting.

If your grill is not able to reach 500°F on the High setting, there are a few things
you can do to help your grill reach this temperature:
 Ensure the drip tray is installed correctly. It should sit on the first ledge above
the exhaust in the back of the grill and in the tray in the front of the grill. If it is
installed properly, the tray will slope towards the front of the grill.

When you start your grill, the ambient temperature displayed on the controller
panel should be within 10°F (+ or -) of the temperature outside. If the grill has
been out in the sun, the ambient temperature might read hotter than normal due to
the barrel absorbing and insulating heat.

If you’ve followed these steps and are still unable to achieve a temperature of
425°F on the High setting, please reach out to one of our Traeger Techs by calling
844-9WI-FIRE (844-994-3473). We’ll get you grilling again ASAP!

I looked into your order for you and noticed we ran into an issue while trying to
process your order. This doesn’t happen frequently, and I will get your order
moving again as soon as I hear back from you. There are a few pieces of
information I need in order to proceed:
 Your Full Name
 Shipping Address
 Billing Address (if different from Shipping)
 Order Amount

Once it ships, you’ll receive a confirmation email that includes a tracking number
to help you keep an eye on the status of your order.

14. Unable to Connect to WiFi – Grill Not Showing Up in App

After reviewing your email, I understand that the grill isn’t showing up when you
try to get it connected. The primary reason for this is that the grill is only able to
communicate with a 2.4 GHz wireless network. Please ensure that your router is
broadcasting a 2.4 GHz signal.

If it is and you’re still experiencing issues, it could be because your router has the
same name for both the 2.4 GHz and 5.0 GHz channels. If so, please assign each
channel a different name in your router settings.

15. Unable to Connect to Wifi – No Network Password

Based on what you’ve described in your email it sounds like your wireless
network is not password-protected. In order to connect your grill to your wireless
network you’ll need to assign a password to the network. This is to keep both
your grill and your network safe.

Once you add a password it should connect just fine. As a side note, if you decide
to create a password unique to your grill, be sure that it’s less than 10 characters
with no special symbols.

16. Unable to Connect to Wifi – Controller is in a Corrupted State

Reviewing your email, it seems as though the controller on your grill not
responding, which is then preventing you from connecting. We’ve that
completing the following troubleshooting steps will resolve this issue:

 Put your grill into standby mode by powering down on the controller
 Turn off the grill by flipping the switch on the back of the hopper.
 Unplug the grill from its power source
 Wait 30 seconds
 Plug the grill back into its power source
 Flip your switch on the back of the hopper to “on”
 Wake up your grill by pressing down on the knob connected to the controller
 Try again to pair the grill

Once you go through these steps you’ll be connected and ready to grill!

17. Unable to Connect to Wifi – Wifi doesn’t detect any networks on Timberline

When your Timberline grill can’t detect any wireless networks, it can be because
the antenna is missing. After reviewing your email, I believe this is what’s
happening. That’s something that we can fix for you.

Please take a look underneath your hopper. There should be an antenna screwed
into the bottom of the hopper, pointing downward. If there isn’t, please check the
assembly packaging for the antenna. When you find the antenna, install it where
you can see a hole next to a screw in the bottom of the hopper.

For the best signal, point it straight down and make sure it’s screwed in fully. If
you’ve accidently thrown away your antenna, that’s no problem. I’m happy to
order one for you. Please just confirm the following:

 Full Name
 Email Address
 Shipping Address
 Billing Address (if different from Shipping)
 Model Number
 Serial Number

Once shipped, orders can take 3-7 business days to arrive. You’ll receive a
confirmation email that includes a tracking number to help you keep an eye on the
status of your order.

18. Error Message: LEr Error

The LEr error you are seeing happens when the grill temperature has either
dipped below 120°F for too long or has not reached 120°F within 10 minutes of
start-up. If you haven’t started you grill again since seeing the LEr error, please
clean out your firepot to prevent a fire.

The best way to prevent an LEr is the following the proper start-up and-shut down
processes for your grill. For your convenience, here are those steps:

[INSERT START-UP AND SHUT-DOWN STEPS]

If you’re still getting an LEr we need to check on the pellets. Make sure the
hopper is at least 1/3 full and that you’re using Traeger brand pellets. They should
be dry, look shiny, and feel crisp.

The temperature outside can also cause the LEr error. If it’s very cold where you
live, try setting the temperature 25°F higher than what think you need for your
cook.

If you’re still getting that error code after taking these steps, there are some
additional troubleshooting steps we can take over the phone in order to get you
grilling again. If that sounds good to you, go ahead and give us a call at 1-800-
TRAEGER (800-872-3437) next time you’re with your grill.

19. Error Message: HEr

The HEr error message appears when the grill reaches 550°F for longer than a few
minutes. Traeger grills are not designed to maintain temperatures above 550°F.
When that happens, your grill shuts itself down for safety purposes. Most HEr
error codes are a result of a fire inside your grill that is beyond what is required to
cook your food.

When you start your grill, be sure that you have all of your internal components
(heat baffle, drip tray) properly placed for the start-up.

It’s also important to follow the proper start-up and-shut down processes for your
grill. For your convenience, here are those steps:

[INSERT START-UP AND SHUT-DOWN STEPS]

If you’ve recently received an LEr error message and are now seeing the HEr
error message, be sure to clean the pellets out of the firepot. An LEr event can
cause the firepot to overfill with pellets. Starting your grill with all those extra
pellets can cause the HEr error message.

The last thing that can cause an HEr error message is a grease fire. It’s very
important to prevent grease from pooling in the bottom of the barrel. Clean the
grill regularly and ensure the drip tray is properly installed to prevent this from
happening.
20. Error Message: Component Disconnected

The error code that you’re getting is one that is typically caused by a loose
connection. The quickest way to fix this is to remove your service panel and
controller, and then check the connection between the wires.

The wire colors below correspond with each part in your grill. This will help you
to check those connections.

 Thermocouple – Orange
 Pellet Sensor – White with an orange stripe
 Meat Probe – 2 wires, one black one white
 Fan – 4 wires, black, red, white, and brown
 Auger – 5 wires, black, white, blue, yellow, and red
 Ignitor – Braided white and red

I’ve also attached a photo for your convenience.

If the connections are good, or if you’re seeing a message that says a part is bad,
that’s different than a disconnected component. It means that the part is damaged,
and we will need to replace the part. If that is the case, please let me know so we
can get that replaced for you.

21. Proper Startup – Open Lid

Based on your grill model, you should be using the open-lid start-up. When you’re ready
to cook, set your Traeger grill to the Smoke setting with the lid open. Wait for a fire to
establish (you’ll be able to hear a jet-like whirring sound). The fire should establish in
about 4-5 minutes. Once you hear the fire start, close the lid and set the controller to your
desired temperature.

It takes about 15 minutes to preheat your grill. Try to avoid changing the temperature
setting before your grill reaches the temperature you originally selected. Once it reaches
that temperature, feel free to adjust to another temperature as needed.

Hi –

This is Evelyn from Traeger, here are some tips that will help you get your grill to
reach to the right temperature.
Be wary of cold weather, sometimes it is too cold outside which makes it difficult for the grill to
reach temperature. In this scenario, use an insulation blanket.
Make sure you always have the firepot clean so there is no sawdust or leftover pellets that can
block the airflow.
Check the pellets
·       Pellets should be stored in a dry, airtight container to prevent moisture and humidity from
compromising pellet quality
·       Traeger recommends using a bucket and lid for storage (BAC370 lid, BAC430 bucket) Pellets
may be compromised if they are light in color, dull, dusty, break easily, or the bag has lots of
sawdust in it.

22. Proper Startup – Closed Lid

Based on your grill model, you should be following the closed-lid start-up process. When
you’re ready to cook, select the desired temperature on your controller and leave the lid
closed.

It takes about 15 minutes to preheat your grill. Try to avoid changing the temperature
setting before your grill reaches the temperature you originally selected. Once it reaches
that temperature, feel free to adjust to another temperature as needed.

Hi –
This is Evelyn from Traeger, here are some tips that will help you get your grill to
reach to the right temperature and to keep the smoke concentrated inside the grill.
Be wary of cold weather, sometimes it is too cold outside which makes it difficult for the grill to
reach temperature. In this scenario, use an insulation blanket. If temperature is less than 30
degrees.
Make sure you always have the firepot clean so there is no sawdust or leftover pellets that can
block the airflow. Clean the firepot every 2 o 3 cooks if they are short cooks if they are long
cooks try to clean them before using it.
Check the pellets
 Pellets should be stored in a dry, airtight container to prevent moisture and humidity from
compromising pellet quality, do not keep pellets for more than 14 days inside the hopper.
 Traeger recommends using a bucket and lid for storage (BAC370 lid, BAC430 bucket) Pellets
may be compromised if they are light in color, dull, dusty, break easily, or the bag has lots of
sawdust in it.
 Having a dirty grill can affect the temperature of the grill in multiple different ways.
 Clean the firepot and ensure it is undamaged.
 Check RTD/Thermocouple.
o Ensure the orange protective cover was removed from the thermocouple before use.
If it was not removed before use, please contact Customer Service.
o Ensure the customer’s RTD probe or thermocouple is reading ambient temp with +/-
10°F by comparing the outside temperature to the internal temperatures of a cooled
down the grill.

 Now you are ready to use the grill, put everything back inside the grill (heat baffle, drip pan
and grill grates and close the lid

Based on the model number, Select the desired temperature on your controller and
allow the grill to preheat for about 20 minutes with the door closed before placing food
in the grill.

It takes about 20 minutes to preheat your grill. Try to avoid changing the temperature
setting before your grill reaches the temperature you originally selected. Once it reaches
that temperature, feel free to adjust to another temperature as needed.
Here are two options if you want to use the HIGH SETTING OR THE SMOKE SETTING.
For example if you want to cook on HIGH temp, set your grill to 375 first and let it
preheat for 20 minutes with the lid closed, then you can set it to HIGH temperature
and let it run for another 20 more minutes.
Now if you want to use the smoke setting, set your grill to 180 first with the lid closed
and let it preheat for 15 minutes and then you can lower it to SMOKE setting. Never
start on smoke setting with lid open.
Always run SHUTDOWN cycle after finishing cooking with the lid closed

Thank you

If any of the grill info appears in the Connectivity Details section of the connected
asset in Salesforce, the controller has (at least partially) connected before, and is fully
capable of connecting to a Wi-Fi network. The controller is not the issue. The
controller Wi-Fi module either functions, or it does not. True or False? *
1/1
True

False

A grill has partially connected. The grill shows that it is connected to the user Wi-Fi
network, but it does not display on the user's Traeger app. There is no message on
the controller or on the app that files are being downloaded or that an update is in
progress. True or false: The pairing can still be completed in this state? *
1/1
True. The pairing can still be completed in this state, however it will take the grill some time to
communicate with the Traeger cloud network in order to complete the updates. This can take
anywhere from a few minutes to a few hours. The grill power should be left on

False. The pairing is stuck and we need to TS for a possible controller replacement.

After the grill is paired to a Wi-Fi network, the Traeger app on the smart device
connects to the Traeger cloud through the smart device wifi and cellular connections.
The grill connects to the Traeger cloud through the user’s Wi-Fi network. The app
communicates with the grill through the cloud network. How does the user’s smart
device communicate with the grill during the pairing process to get the grill paired to
the Wi-Fi network? *
1/1
A: The Bluetooth function on the smart device connects to the grill. The user can only connect to
the grill through Bluetooth.
B: The user selects the Traeger grill Wi-Fi network from their smart device Wi-Fi settings. As long
as the user on the same Wi-Fi, they will be connected to their grill.
C: The Traeger app on the smart device connects to the Traeger grill Wi-Fi broadcast through the
Wi-Fi function on the smart device. This is the only time the smart device will connect directly to
the Traeger grill.

D: The user does not need to connect. When within range of the grill, the smart device will detect
and automatically connect to the Traeger grill.

Which signal strength below might cause connectivity issues in which a grill might
initially only partially connect? *
1/1
A. -55
B. -73

C. -61
D. -47

If the Traeger grill Wi-Fi signal can be seen in the smart device Wi-Fi settings, the grill
Wi-Fi is functional and is broadcasting a signal for pairing. True or False? *
1/1
True: The grill Wi-Fi module is fully functional and is absolutely capable of connecting

False: The grill is sending a signal, but there could be something else wrong with the controller
that prevents it from connecting to a user’s Wi-Fi network.

The Traeger app only connects directly with the grill during the pairing process. After
the grill is paired, the app communicates with the grill through the Traeger cloud. True
or False? *
1/1
True

False

The grill is about 15 feet from the router and the pairing process is returning a
connection error. There is only one standard wall between the grill and the router.
Which of the following are viable options to potentially get the grill to connect? *
0/1
A. Verify that the smart device is connected to a 2.4GHz broadcast signal.
B. Move the grill to another location, still within 30 feet of the router.
E. All of the above.
D. Power cycle the grill; power it off and unplug it for 30 seconds, then plug it back in and power it
on.

C. Reset the SSID; Navigate to Menu>Wifi Information, then press and hold the ignite button for
10 seconds.
Correct answer
E. All of the above.

The controller Wi-Fi module has trouble recognizing network names that are 32
characters or longer. True or False; A Wi-Fi network named “Pretty Fly For a Wi-Fi
Network” can prevent a grill from successfully pairing? *
1/1
True: The network name has 24 characters plus 5 spaces. One space accounts for up to 3
characters. This network name could be seen as being as long as 39 characters and can prevent
the grill from pairing to the user Wi-Fi network.

False: The network name has 24 characters plus 5 spaces for a total of 29 characters This
network name does not pose a problem for connecting.

User Wi-Fi advanced security settings can prevent pairing. You are not expected to be
familiar with advanced security settings on user Wi-Fi networks and how they hinder
connectivity. Which of the following statements is correct? *
1/1
A. You are expected to understand that advanced security settings can prevent pairing. Check
with customers if they, or an IT person has enabled advanced security. Advise them that their
security could be preventing the grill from pairing.

B: You are expected to understand and explain to any customer details about advanced security
settings, and advise them on how to make security setting changes to get their grill connected
their network.

Which scenario does not warrant a controller replacement? *
0/1
A. The controller is in a state of downloading files, and that download status has not changed for
over an hour. The grill has been power-cycled and the controller is unresponsive.
B. The controller was previously connected, and no longer is. The customer has unsuccessfully
made multiple attempts to connect the grill again. You have had the customer power-cycle the
grill, uninstall and reinstall the app, and it still will not connect.
C. The pairing process continually returns errors, and the grill does not connect. The grill seems
to be fully functional, except for the issue with pairing the grill to the user Wi-Fi network. The
Traeger grill Wi-Fi network does not appear in the user’s smart device Wi-Fi settings. You have
also verified that the Traeger grill Wi-Fi network does not appear in the Wi-Fi settings on another
smart device either. There is no data in the Salesforce asset Connectivity Details where a correct
UUID is entered.

Correct answer
B. The controller was previously connected, and no longer is. The customer has unsuccessfully
made multiple attempts to connect the grill again. You have had the customer power-cycle the
grill, uninstall and reinstall the app, and it still will not connect.

RESET THE AUGER ON A D2 GRILL

Step 1– Turn the dial on the controller to “Select Auger” then choose “Clear Auger”(hopper has to be
completely empty)
This process can take up to 5 minutes, after 5 minutes, press and hold the button on the knob until
the screen goes blank on the controller, then power off using the switch on the back of the hopper
Once you do this, turn the grill on and add pellets to the hopper.
Step 2 – Turn the dial on the controller to “Select Auger” then choose “Prime Auger”
Step 3 – Once pellets begin to fall into the firepot, select “Done” to turn off auger
Step 4 – Press MENU>SETTINGS> CLEAR NOTIFICATIONS> CLEAR
and then reset your grill again, this process will help you get rid of all previous and present errors
on the controller.
Step 5 - Are the internal pieces of the grill in installed? (drip tray, fire pot, heat baffle,
thermocouple)

 The grill will run much hotter if the heat baffle or drip tray are not in the grill or severely
damaged.

Resetting AUGER and controller.

Hi _!
This is Evelyn, here are some instructions that will help you reset your grill (controller and hot
rod), turn off the grill and unplug the grill and remove the grill grate located in the bottom part of
the hopper (it has 4 screws or sometimes 6 screws) there is no need to remove the whole hopper.
Then cut the zip ties holding the wires together and try testing the connections using these steps.
1. Disconnect the RED wire's Molex connector from the RED and white Molex connector.
2. Reconnect the RED wire's Molex connector with the other RED and white Molex connector.
3. Turn the grill on and check if the auger motor is now working (check if the fan on the back is
spinning). Let the grill run for 2 minutes
4. Disconnect the RED wire's Molex connector and the ORANGE wire's Molex connector.
5. Reconnect the wires by using the other component's Molex connector and let it run for 2
minutes.
6. Plug the grill in and turn it on.
a. If the induction fan turns on – the controller is fine, and the auger motor is bad.
b. If auger motor turns on and the induction fan does not – the controller is bad, and the
components are fine.
c. If neither component is turning on – the controller and the auger motor need to be
replaced.
7. Plug the components back into their corresponding wires until you are ready to replace the
defective part.

Once you finish the testing, do not forget to reconnect the wires to how they were before. .
Colors should match (orange to orange and white, red to red and white)
Then follow these steps to finish the resetting process.
1) Remove the heat baffle, drip tray pan, and grill grates and clean the firepot.
2) Turn the dial all the way to high and let it run until you see 5 – 12 pellets, then turn the dial
all way to shutdown cycle and let it run for 2 minutes.
3) After 2 minutes, turn the dial to smoke and as soon as you see some fire turn it to shut
down cycle and let it cool down for at least 15 to 20 minutes.
4) Then once the shutdown process finishes, turn the grill off and clean the firepot.
Now you are ready to use the grill, put everything back inside the grill (heat baffle, drip pan and grill
grates.

 When you’re ready to cook, set your Traeger grill to the Smoke setting with the lid open. Let it
smoke for 5 minutes. Then close the lid and set the controller to your desired temperature.
It takes about 20 minutes to preheat your grill. Try to avoid changing the temperature setting
before your grill reaches the temperature you originally selected. Once it reaches that
temperature, feel free to adjust to another temperature as needed.
Here are two options if you want to use the HIGH SETTING OR THE SMOKE SETTING.
a. For example if you want to cook on HIGH temp, set your Traeger grill to the
Smoke setting with the lid open. Let it smoke for 5 minutes. Then close the lid and set
the controller to to 375 first and let it preheat for 15 minutes with the lid
closed. After 15 minutes then you can set it to HIGH temperature.
b. Now if you want to use the smoke setting, set your Traeger grill to the Smoke
setting with the lid open. Let it smoke for 5 minutes. Then close the lid and set the
the lid closed. Let it preheat for 10-15
controller setting to P-4 and maintain
minutes, and then it is ready to cook. Just keep doing this process in
order to maintain temperature.
Always run SHUTDOWN cycle after finishing cooking with the lid closed
P-SETTINGS: P-2 for high temperatures like 300 – High setting
P-3 / P-4 for low settings. If you use smoke or 180 P-4 is the best to
maintain it below 200 degrees, P-3 would be better for 225, 250,275.

Does your grill have a P-setting?

You will know by seeing a small hole, a blank black stick or a sticker that reads “Call Service” on the
controller to the right of the LED screen (WiFIRE grills do not have p-settings).

 If your grill has a P-setting, you can adjust the p-setting by using a paper clip to press the
button in the small hole. Adjust until the controller flashes “P-2.”
o If the grill continues to run to hot, adjust to “P-4.”
o We do not recommend adjusting past “p-4” as this can cause the flame to go out
during the cook. Sometimes it helps to adjust the P- settings.
If your grill does not have a P-settings. Then follow the next steps to finish the reset
process.

Once you finish the testing, do not forget to reconnect the wires to how they were before. Then

To replace RTD

Unplug grill.  Remove the 2 screws and 2 nuts holding the RTD in place

Remove the controller from the front of the hopper by unscrewing the Philip head
screws. Using small screwdriver remove the screws on the top of the green box on the
back of the controller holding the RTD wires in place.

Pull out the RTD (cut any zip ties that may be holding the wires together).  You can
access the RTD probe by opening the cabinet doors and removing the metal panel
with a Philips screwdriver (see below pic)

Ready the new probe. Begin feeding it down through the placement hole on the side
of the barrel (see below pic)

Retrieve the wires on the outside of the barrel and drop them down toward the floor
between the hopper and the barrel. With your hand reach through the controller and
hopper cutout and pull the RTD wires through. Reconnect the RTD to its housing box
on the back of the controller. makes sure any wires are not in the way of the
components and screw the controller back in.

Hi Jeff–
This is Evelyn from Traeger, here are some tips that will help you get your grill to
reach to the right temperature and also to keep the smoke concentrated inside the
grill.
 Traeger recommends using a bucket and lid for storage (BAC370 lid, BAC430 bucket)
Pellets may be compromised if they are light in color, dull, dusty, break easily, or the bag
has lots of sawdust in it.
 Having a dirty grill can affect the tempeture of the grill in multiple different ways.

Based on the model number, Select the desired temperature on your controller  and allow the
grill to preheat for about 15 to 20  minutes with the door closed before placing food in the grill.

For example if you want to cook on HIGH temp, set your grill to 375 first and let it
preheat for 15 minutes with the lid closed, then you can set it to HIGH temperature
and let it run for another 15 more minutes.
1) Here is the process, you will need to reset the controller
follow these steps to finish the resetting process.

1. Remove the heat baffle, drip tray pan, and grill grates and clean the firepot.
2. Turn the dial all the way to high and let it run until you see 5 – 12 pellets, then turn the dial
all way to shutdown cycle and let it run for 2 minutes.
3. After 2 minutes, turn the dial to smoke and as soon as you see some fire turn it to shut
down cycle and let it cool down for at least 15 to 20 minutes.
4. Then once the shutdown process finishes, turn the grill off and clean the firepot.
Now you are ready to use the grill, put everything back inside the grill (heat baffle, drip pan and grill
grates and close the lid. Grill is ready to use
Follow the steps on the new manual for the upgraded controller, to season the firepot.

AC (NON-WiFIRE) Seasoning Process

1. Make sure all internal components are inside the grill. This includes the heat baffle, drip
tray, and grill grates.
2. Plug in the grill to an electrical outlet. Turn it on using the switch on the front of the
controller.
3. Add hardwood pellets to the hopper.
4. Prime the auger with pellets.
o Open the lid and remove all internal components, like the grill grate, drip tray,
and heat baffle.
o On the grill controller, set the grill to High (or highest temp possible) until you
see pellets fall into the firepot, about 2 to 5 minutes.
5. Turn off the grill using the power switch on the front of the controller.
6. Return all internal components to their correct places inside the grill (heat baffle, drip
tray, and grill grates).
7. Turn the grill back on, close the lid, and set the controller to Smoke.
8. Wait approximately 15 minutes for the fire to establish in the grill. Once the fire is
established, the smoke should be thin and light blue in color, not thick and white.
9. Using the grill controller, turn the grill to High (or highest temp possible).
10. Run the grill on High for 30 minutes.
11. After 30 minutes, you are good to throw a steak on the grill and start cooking. If you
aren’t ready for your first cook, shut down the grill.
o Set the grill to Shutdown Cycle. The shutdown cycle will run approximately 25
minutes.
12. Once the shutdown cycle is complete, turn off the grill using the power switch.
13. Your grill seasoning is now complete and you are ready to start grilling.
