RESOLUTION ADOPTING THE EXISTING INTERNAL RULES OF

PROCEDURE FOR THE 8TH CITY COUNCIL OF MARIKINA

WHEREAS, the Sangguniang Panlungsod of Marikina is a legislative body duly

organized pursuant to law for the enactment of ordinances and the adoption of resolutions
for the governance of the city;

WHEREAS, pursuant to and in accordance with the provisions of Sec. 50, Republic Act
No. 7160, otherwise known as the Local Govemment Code of 1991,
local sangguniaLn bodies shall adopt or update the existing rules of procedures for the
proper discharge of legislative functions;

WHEREAS, in the maintenance of good order in the City Council's deliberations, it is

necessary that specific rules be adopted and enforced in the interest of effective
legislation;

WHEREAS, the Sangguniang Panlungsod of

Marikina has an existing Rules of
Procedure under Resolution No. 08-2015 which can be revised, updated as the Internal
Rules ofProcedure ofthe 8s City Council:

WHEREAS, the members of the 8th City Council opted to adopt en toto the existing
rules of procedure without prejudice to revising or updating the same within ninety (90)
days following the election of the members pursuant to Section 50 of the Code;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SANGGUNIANG

PANLUNGSOD OF MARIKINA to adopt as it hereby adopts the attached 7th Intemal
Rules ofProcedure as the rules ofprocedure for the 8th City Council;

RESOLVED FURTHER to provide copies of the existing rules of procedure to the

members of the 8ft City Council for their ready reference.
