    ROCKS AND ROCK CYCLE

    A rock is any naturally occurring solid mass or aggregate of


    minerals or mineraloid matter.
    TYPES OF ROCKS
    igneous’ comes from the latin phrase ‘made
    from fire’.
    Most of the earth’s crust is made out of
    IGNEOUS igneous rock.
    Many mountains are made out of igneous

    ROCK rocks. Also, many mountains with lots of


    surrounding igneous rock suggests that the
    mountain could be a volcano.
    Igneous rocks contain many minerals that
    help plants grow.
    Earth’s moon is made out of igneous rocks.
    SEDIMENTARY Sedimentary rocks are types of rock that are
    formed by the accumulation or deposition of
    ROCK mineral or organic particles at the Earth's
    surface.
    METAMORPHIC Metamorphic rocks started out as some
    other type of rock, but have been
    ROCK substantially changed from their original
    igneous, sedimentary, or earlier
    metamorphic form.
