Annotation on Learner-Centered Teaching Philosophy

To be learner-centered in our teaching, we must be aware of the

students' needs, prior knowledge, talents, interests, social orientation,
linguistic skills, and cultures in addition to the various material or skills
that are being taught to them.
In designing the lesson, the background of the students should always
be considered. It is important to know their prior knowledge, their strengths
and weaknesses, for us teachers to know the right strategies to employ in
designing instructions for classroom discussion.
I have learned in our mentoring and coaching session with my Master
Teacher, Ma’am Lorena C. Dalida, that there are many ways on how to
design and implement a learner-centered lesson. In this way, students will
be more engaged in the classroom and teaching and learning will be more
meaningful.
