A Detailed Lesson Plan in Physical Education

I. Objectives
At the end of the leson, the 2nd year students should be able to:
1. Learn how to effectively play table tennis by developing a serve, forehand and backhand.
2. Demonstrate understanding of the various techniques of table tennis such as different types of shots
and grips.
3. Show improvement and skill development every day by meeting the objectives (i.e.) meeting the
accuracy percentage for the day.
4. Learn the rules and strategies of table tennis. We will teach both offensive and defensive strategies
while also incorporating rules into lessons.
5. To get the students passionate about table tennis so they will play on their own after this course.

II. Subject Matter


Topic: Table Tennis
Individual/ Dual Sports: Basic Skills in Playing Table Tennis
Materials: Table Tennis, Table, Racket, Ball and Hand-outs

III. Instructional Procedure


A. Learning Activities

“Before we proceed to the gym, kindly pick


the small pieces of trash under your chairs,before
we go outside.And also change your P.E clothes. I’ “Okay Sir”
ll give you 5 minutes to change your clothes, and
don’t forget to bring your Table Tennis.”

B. Motivation

Goodmorning class! Today we will have a game. Group 1


Form 4 groups with 5 members. The name of the Group 2
game is “ Hitting the ball” Group 3
Group 4

Before we proceed to the game, Each group will


have a 1 representative. Now, choose your
representative. “yes sir”

Now, at the count of three you will start.


One, Two, Three!

We almost done, congratulations to the winner,


and all of will have a 5 points in participating “ Thank you Sir”
today.

C. Lesson Proper

Let’s procced to our leson for today about the


basic skill in Table Tennis.

First: Forehand Drive and Backhand Drive

What can you say about Forehand and Backhand “ Sir, forehand strokes are hit with the front of

whereas backhand strokes are hit with the back of

the forehand stroke, the forehand push is doesn’t
have enough spin. In general, you should use the
forehand push for the long ball. Understand?

D. Acitivity
Now let’s have an acitivity, It is call ‘ Ball
Bounce”. This game is work with a partner and
find a space. Go to your partner. Then, the first “Yes sir”
player holds the ball and the bat. The leader blows
the whistle the time will start.
Instructions: Bounce the ball on the bat using
forehand only, while your partner counts how
many times you do this. If the balls drops, pick it
up and carry on counting from the last number
until the whistle blows. Your partner tell me your
score.

E. Generalization
Now let’s have a review, what are the basic “Forehand drive/push and Backhand drive/push’
strokes in playing Table tennis?
