The work of preparing Intemational Standards is normally carried out through ISO technical committees. Each member body interested In a subject for which a technical committee has been tectablished has the tight to be represented on that committee. International organizations, governmental and ongovernmental, in lisison with ISO, also take part in the work. ISO collaborates closely with the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) on all maiters of electrotechnical standardization International Standards are drafted in accordance withthe rules given In the ISO/IEC Directives, Part 2. _Tho main task of technical committees is to prepare international Standards. Draft tntemational Standards opted by the technical committees ate citculated to the member bodies for voting. Publication as an ualerational Standard requires approval by at least 75 % of the member bodies casting a vote. ‘Allenton is drawn to the possibifly that same of the elements of this document may be the subject of patent fights, [SO shall not be held responeibie for identifying any or all such patent rights. [S0.4144 was prepared by Technical Committee ISOITCS, Ferrous metal pipes and metalic fitings, Subcommittee SC 5, Threaded or plain end but-welding ftings, threads, gauging of threads. “This second eultion cancels and replaces the first edition {ISO 4144:1979), which has been technically ravised. w (© 180 2003 — AX igh reserved ‘ww standards.com.au Copyright ISO ‘won. isostandards.com.au ticensed to Ati Stes Austala Ply Lid on 18 Aug 2003 1 user perso wer Hoence only. Precision casting technologies have begun tobe applied to the production of stainless steel castings. Dimensions of stainless steel fitings are considerably reduced by the introduction of the new casting technologies, which offer economical advantage and high profitablliy of the industry, ‘Another Important issue to be considered in ISO standar ratings. tion is the requirement of pressure-temperature Furthermore, sic new types of stainless steel filings, such as 45° elbows, male and female elbows, crosses, ‘te,, have been added to the ten conventional types of fitings specified in ISO 4144:1879.
