The numbers don’t lie.
We are the pulse of the culture.
In 2020, we reminded you that Black people are the #1 early adopters that drive conversion
amongst other demographics with a buying power of over $1.2 trillion, according to Nielsen.
Even more, Black people lead social media consumption of content across multiple
platforms. #BlackTwitter, anyone?
Since then, we have been on a quest to explore the impact of diverse populations in America.
Here’s a snapshot of what we found:
• As of 2021, Black Americans, Hispanic Americans, AAPI and Native Americans account
for over $4 trillion in total spending power within the U.S.
• Accompanied by $1.4 trillion in LGBTQ+ spending, minority groups are essential to the
American economy while still being under-served.
• According to United States Census Data, Black Americans, Hispanic Americans, AAPI and
Native Americans now represent more than 40% of the population of the United States,
and a whopping 70% of the world.
It is no surprise that the term People of the Global Majority is becoming increasingly popular,
replacing far flung tongue twisters like POC, BIPOC and BBIWOC.

July is National Ice Cream Month! Did you know that Black Americans pioneered ice cream in the United States?
• Augustus Jackson, a Black Philadelphian, was dubbed the Father of Ice Cream because he revolutionized the ice cream making process using salt to make the ice melt slower. His ice cream making process and
recipes revolutionized ice cream in Philadelphia.
• Alfred Cralle invented the ice cream scoop. Cralle was also the first Black inventor to hold a solo patent.
