Basic Understanding for garments & fabric

 What is Garments?

The garment is the most common term used to name our clothes. Other forms of garments are apparel,
attire, dress, uniform, and clothes. The article we wear to cover our body is known as a garment. A fabric
sheet is a cloth but not a garment. The garment is defined as an article of clothing.

 How to identify garments?

Two types of garments: 1. Knit Garments 2. Woven Garments

Knit Garments: like, T-shirts, trouser, inner- wear, sweater etc.

Woven Garments: like, shirts, pants, uniform. Blouse etc.

 What is fabric?

Anything that we make through weaving, crocheting, or knitting that we can use to make further goods is
fabrics. Therefore, we when talking about using materials for making garments, for example, we say
fabrics.

 How to identify fabric?

Two types of garments: 1. Knit Fabrics 2. Woven Fabrics

Knit Fabrics: like, interlock, trouser, single jersey, sweater etc.

Woven fabric: Broadcloth, denim, drill, poplin, cotton sateen, flannelette, lawn, corduroy.

 What is Swatch?

A small sample of fabric intended to demonstrate the look of a larger piece.
