HUMAN CULTURAL VARIATIONS

Human cultural the rich diversity in social practices that different cultures exhibit around the world

EXAMPLES of human culture?

Culture – set of patterns of human activity within a community or social group and the symbolic
structures that give significance to such activity. Customs, laws, dress, architectural style, social
standards and traditions are all examples of cultural elements.

Cultural variance describes the wide range of social norms that many civilizations around the world
display. In addition to gender roles, economic structures, and social hierarchies, there are many more
humanly arranged behaviors that vary from one culture to the next, including cuisine and art.

What causes human cultural variation? -The biological variations between humans are summarized in
the ideas of natural selection and evolution. Human variation is based on the principle that there is
variation in traits that result for recombination of genes from sexual reproduction

It refers to the differences in social behaviors that different cultures exhibit around the world. What may
be considered good etiquette in one culture may be considered bad etiquette in another.
SOCIAL CHANGE

Sociologists define social change as changes in human interactions and relationships that transform
cultural and social institutions. These changes occur over time and often have profound and long-term
consequences for society.

WHY IS SOCIAL CHANGE IMPORTANT? -Social transformation is crucial since it has the potential to
enhance each worker's rights. The idea of social transformation in society and its structure is what gave
rise to laws against child labor, minimum wage legislation the establishment of unions, the provision of
medical care, legal protection, and greater salaries.

Well known EXAMPLES of such change have resulted from social movements in civil rights, women's
rights, and LBGTQ rights, to name just a few. Relationships have changed, institutions have changed, and
cultural norms have changed as a result of these social change movements.

EXAMPLES of social diff -A variety of societal differences, such as race, ethnicity, gender, sexual
orientation, age, religion, ability, and status, are given advantages and supremacy. Therefore, privilege is
systemic and the result of many different social rules and practices that benefit some people more than
others.

Changes in human interactions and relationships that transform cultural and social institutions.

Alterations in interpersonal connections and interactions that alter cultural and societal institutions.

The differences among the individuals on the basis of social characteristics and qualities

Both the process and effect of efforts to positively alter societal conditions. It encompasses a range of
outcomes—healing, increased awareness, attitudinal change, more diverse and increased civic
participation, movement building, and policy change to name just a few.

Positive social change results in the improvement of human and social conditions and in the betterment
of society. Such change can occur at many levels, including individuals, families, communities,
organizations, and governments. Positive social change is driven by ideas and actions with real-world
implications.

SOCIAL DIFFERENCESS

The differences and discriminations that occurs in the society.

The differences among the individuals on the basis of social characteristics and qualities.

Not accepting or disrespecting someone, just because he / she is different to other people.

The differences among the individuals on the basis of social characteristics and qualities are known as
social differences. Social differences are the complex differences and they include class, race, culture,
age, ability, sex etc. Social differences can create discrimination among the individuals on the basis of
their social characteristics.
For example, if in a society, individuals with high status are given more respect and importance as
compare to the poor or homeless people then it is a social difference. Social differences can create a lot
of problems in a society because discrimination always result in inequality, inferiority complex and other
social problems.

POLITICAL IDENTITY

Political identity is how a person or group of persons think of themselves in relation to the politics and
government of a country. Everything that makes up our sense of self are components of our political
identity. This includes our ethnicity, religion, gender, class, ideology, nationality and even our age and
generation.

Identity politics is a political approach wherein people of a particular race, religion, gender,
social background, social class, environmental, or other identifying factors develop political agendas that
are based upon these identities.

Political Identity is when people of a particular race, ethnicity, gender, or religion form alliances
and organize politically to defend their groups

All Social issues in the past several years like same-sex marriage, police shootings of unarmed black
men, LGBTQ+ and etc. This are the typically the kinds of issue people mean when they refer to Identity
Politics

Political arguments that focus upon the interest and perspectives of groups that people identify and
includes the ways in which people's politics may be shaped by aspects of their identity.

Practices or claims that construct political identity on the basis of common descent, language, or culture
are described as ‘ethrorationalist’. Ethnonationalism is widespread in the modern world. Although
nationalists' ideologies commonly present ethnic solidarities simply as inherited, social scientists
generally analyze them as creations of ideological and political mobilization.

The ways that individuals categorize themselves and others, and how they understand the power
relationships of domination and oppression that exist between groups. Race.
