Statement of purpose

Introduction

I am always being focused towards her future career. Future is the path learnt from
past and started from present. So to make my future bright and satisfactory, I
should take correct decision regarding my career.

My name is Harshdeep Singh, I had completed my school leaving certificate (year

10) with 71% in the year 2019 from Punjab school education board and (year 12)
with 66% in the year 2021 from Central board of secondary education, As I am a
student of Arts background, I am interested to study Diploma of hospitality
management. On top of that, to achieve quality education and establish myself as a
hospitality management, I have decided to pursue Master of Health Administration,
Policy and Leadership. But I found for Australia I need to appear for IELTS or PTE
then I took 2 to 3 months IELTS coaching, after having satisfied score in IELTS, I
started searching for colleges and university and colleges in Australia. and I have
always focused in developing my personal skills along with my education as I believe
both of them are necessary in attain a successful life. Then I visited many
educational agents to get idea about Australian education degree and student visa
processes. I started attending many seminars surf/internet to get information about
Australian education and Diploma of hospitality management. Finally I got
convinced to study in Australia as it’s an educational hub for international student.

Family Background

I have 7 family members including me. My father is agriculturist his annual income is
INR 5, 30,000, my two sisters are in India, one is studying in India and one sister is
studying in Australia.

I am blessed that my decision for studying abroad is appreciated by my Parents not

only emotionally but also financially. My parents have always encouraged us for
studies and to build our career. They have supported me with my dreams and are
now supporting my studies in Australia. I want to make my family proud by building
a successful career and taking care of them once I am settled.
Being the son, it is up to me to look after them. It is a huge responsibility for me and
I want to take this opportunity of studying in Australia so that I can get a good job
and build my career in India. I want to be closer to my parents so I can support and
look after them.
FINANCIAL CAPACITY:

For my further study, I will be sponsored by my father Jaspreet Singh and he is

having a Loan worth Rs - 20, 02,000 in Canara Bank. He has enough funds to
sponsor my studies for the concerned period. I am confident that education from
Australia will provide me an excellent opportunity to achieve my career goals.

For my study and living in Australia, I have come across sufficient funds and I will be
financially sponsored by my parents for my tuitions fees, living and other relevant
expenses which may occur during my study period in Australia. My family is
financially sound and holds sufficient funds for my higher studies in Australia. I have

website of Australian government.

Why I have not my Home Country India:

Keeping my goal and target in my mind, Gamma Education & Training Pty Ltd,
Queensland seems to be an excellent and brilliant place for carrying my career
ahead to its peak as doing a qualification at an international level will carry more
weight-age.

There is no denying that there are many institutions available in my country such as:

 RIG Institute of Tourism and Hospitality Management in Gurgaon

 Guru Nanak Dev University in Amritsar
 Subhash Bose Institute of Hotel Management which is located in Kolkata

Firstly one has to clear the entrance exams which are quite a tough job due to the
limited number of seats in such institutions.

Moreover, in India reservation system is followed for admissions so that’s why my

chances of getting admission were quite low. Secondly, the course curriculum is
quite different from the curriculum of Australian colleges and universities.
Moreover, In Australia, the approach of teaching is practical along with the use of
the latest techniques and updated syllabus which makes the student industry-ready
graduate and this increases the chances of a fresh graduate to be a part of one of
the leading organizations of the world. Even the modes of delivering education are
well furnished as the latest technologies are being used to impart education to the
students such as smart-classes equipped with projectors or other audio-visual aids
and so on.

Moreover while studying in my home country I cannot get the benefits that can be
gained while studying abroad such as international exposure which would add extra
weight to my resume to get good jobs in future. Secondly, by studying in an English
speaking country I can improve my communication skills. Last but not the least, the
value and recognition of an international degree due to the latest business
techniques and understanding of the advanced economy are always higher than a
local degree especially in one of the most emerging markets like India today. Hence
internationally qualified candidates are always preferred comparatively. Due to all
these merits of overseas education, I have decided to have an international degree
rather a domestic one.

During my research I found that it is very difficult for a student to get enroll in such
universities. It is a tough competition with limited number of seats and very high
number of applicants. Number of student sitting for competitive exams each year is
1.2 Million and only the very brightest can get opportunity to study at top
universities in India. My options were limited to Section 2 and 3 universities, which
does not have much recognition.

In addition to that, I will not get any international exposure while studying in India
neither I will be able to improve my communication skills. Whereas, through
international degree, I will get International exposure which will help me to develop
deep understanding regarding my program and high employment opportunities as
the most of the Indian employers are view students with foreign degree favorablyas
their college curriculum is believed to be more in sync with the needs of the
industry.

Owing to these reasons, I decided that studying from good university in Australia
would be better for in terms of quality education and recognition.

Why Australia rather than other countries like USA & UK-

I start browsing preferred study destination through various websites of USA, UK

and Australia. After all these research on internet I found that these three countries
having top preference by the international students as Australia is the Third most
preferred destination as first one is USA and Secondone is UK.

In UK I found I need to crack UKCAT and BMAT to get admission into top colleges &
Universities of UK such as University of Surrey , University of Essex, University of
Greenwich, oxford university and more but the duration of Bachelor of hospitality
management program is 3 to 4 year which have not much recognition back in India.

In USA I found the institutes Northern Arizona University, University of California,

Dallas Baptist University, Fairleigh Dickinson University, California State University
and more but the duration of hospitality management program is 4 year and there
are many universities being blacklisted & the students have been sent back from
USA.

Further, UK and US are always under some or the other terrorist threat. My parents
were not comfortable in sending me to a country with security risk. I ruled out USA
and UK due to the security reasons. USA has always been in news due to its Gun
policy and numerous shoot out events every now and then.

Whereas, in Australia has more business and economic ties with India as well as has
a big economy over the long term and it is a better prospect for Education and
work. The education system in Australia is identical to Indian education system
procedures as for undergraduate students it requires 12 years of study and for post-
graduate it require 15 years of education which is ideal for Indian Students.

In Australia I will get globally accepted degree which will be valid all over the world
and cost of living and other expenses are quite affordable as compare to USA and
UK as in USA currency is quite high i.e. 1USD = (80 INR) and in UK 1 pound= (97 INR)
and whereas in Australia currency rate is 1 AUD = (56 INR).

Other Reasons for choosing Australia for study:-

Ranked High in education system: Australia is the 3rdmost popular student

destination for international students. Australia is having strong education
infrastructure and having 7 out of 100 top ranked universities in the world. Australia
has gained recognition in providing world class education and this is better known
for meeting the needs and expectations of the students.Australia ranks 9th in the
world ahead of Germany, New Zealand, Japan etc. in terms of University System
Ranking.

Variety of Programs: Australia is providing variety of courses and programs to

provide theoretical knowledge and impart practical skills required in delivery
excellent healthcare services. Australia is topping the list in terms of quality of life. It
is also having highly advanced hospitals and medical equipment’s definite advantage
for my career goal. There is career diversity after completion of courses according to
subjects.

value the cultural diversity that students of different countries bring to campuses

laws providing safe and secure environment to everyone.

and gain work experience in the field of study under Post Study Work Visa (PSW)
which assists students to acquire needed skills and knowledge to pursue their
professional careers.

the fees and payment with international students by Tuition protection system.

Suitable weather conditions:The weather conditions in Australia are much familiar

with my home country India which is also suitable for students from India due to its
tropical climate.

Affordable:It is also one of the most political and economic stable countries and
Australia offers the highest standard of living and that too at very affordable prices
(living expenses $21041 per year).
