Align the marks

Remove the crankshaft pulley

Remove the timing belt lower cover

Remove the sensor wheel

Loosen the tensioner pulley bolt

Before disconnecting the battery cable, check the audio system security code

Turn the tensioner away from the timing belt

Tighten the tensioner pulley bolt
Remove the timing belt
Check the gearwheels, tensioner and idler pulley(s) for damage and wear

Installation
Align the crankshaft timing marks

Align the camshaft timing marks

General
Before disconnecting the battery cable, check the audio system security code
Always check the timing marks before timing belt removal

Fit the timing belt anti-clockwise, starting at the crankshaft gearwheel

Loosen the tensioner pulley bolt

Turn the crankshaft clockwise, maximum of 2 teeth at the camshaft gearwheel

Tighten the tensioner pulley bolt (22 - 30 Nm)
Rotate the engine 2 rotations by hand
Check the timing marks
Check the timing belt tension
Timing belt: removal/installation

Repeat the procedure if required
Before

Always check the timing marks before timing belt removal

Fit the timing belt lower cover (10 Nm)

Fit the crankshaft pulley (85 - 95 Nm)

Fit the ancillary drive belt pulley (12 - 15 Nm)

Refit the timing belt upper cover (10 Nm)
