Let’s have fun this summer with this flattering 3 in 1 dress! You can make a crop top, a tank top, or a
dress, with this single pattern! And because of the fluttering drape, this dress would be perfect for any
body shape. I was 27 weeks pregnant in this picture!

- Paintbox Cotton DK Yarn (1.7 oz/ 50g, 137yds/ 125m) or similar light weight (2) yarn in 2 colors
for stripes combination, and also in the main color for the rest of the dress

- G/ 4.00mm crochet hook for the straps
- J/ 6.00mm crochet hook for the main body (or hook size needed to obtain gauge)
- Embroidery needles (preferably stainless steel) to weave in ends

Main pattern (DC): 4x4in/ 10x10cm: 13 DC x 10 rows
Please take some of your time aside to do a gauge patch to avoid sizing problem in the future! Everyone
is different and you might need different size hooks or yarn to get the correct gauge and drape!
Useful Notes
- This pattern is worked top-down. Firstly we’ll make the chest circumference, and then we shall make
the straps and attach them so we can try it out. The whole pattern is made in the round, therefore it’s
seamless. Pattern is written for smallest size, with larger size following in parentheses: XS (S, M, L,
XL). (It is best to highlight your respective size in the pattern before you start working)
- The numbers in brackets in the end of each row is the stitch count (XS, S, M, L, XL), you can highlight
your respective size as well to avoid confusion.
- The pattern is made with 0 ease to the bust circumference. The one shown in the pictures is size S.
- Turning chain in the beginning of each row is not counted as stitch.
Special Stitches
Foundation Single Crochet
This stitch is very useful to start your project and measures how long it needs to go. Sometimes when we
make chains and SC to them, the length will vary depending on our personal tension and SC method. I
often need to frog back the foundation row because at the end of the row I figure it’s not long enough or
it’s too long. With this stitch, we can make the foundation chains and the first row at the same time.

- Chain 2 (pic 1), pull up a loop on the first chain made, you’ll have 2 loops on your hook (pic 2)
- Yarn over, pull through 1 loop only, you’ll have 2 loops on your hook again (pic 3). This is the
chain we’ll work into for the next stitch.
- Yarn over, pull through both loops on your hook to make SC (pic 4), it’s 1 FSC made!
- Now you’ll work the stitch into the ‘chain’ we made (see blue arrow on pic 4) Insert hook to the
‘chain’, pull up a loop, you’ll have 2 loops on your hook (pic 5)
- Yarn over, pull through 1 loop only, you’ll have 2 loops on your hook again (pic 6). The first pull
through is done to make the ‘chain’ we’ll work into, so don’t forget it!
- Yarn over, pull through both loops on your hook to make SC (pic 7), you made another FSC
- Repeat these steps until you have enough FSC according to the pattern
PATTERN
STRAPS (Make 4)
The straps are made with Crochet Cord technique using G/ 4.00mm hook, leave quite a long yarn end
when making the slip knot as we’re going to use it to sew the straps onto the body.
- Chain 2, SC in 2nd chain from hook (through both loops of the chain), you will have a V shaped
strand (orange line), and a horizontal bar beneath it. To make crochet cord, we’ll be working the
stitch into that horizontal bar (green line). So you need to turn your work, to make that bar
accessible to your hook.
- Insert your hook to the bar, make SC, now and onwards you’ll have a V shaped strand (orange
line) and TWO horizontal bars (green line). We’ll now work through both bars. Turn your work
to make that bar accessible to your hook, make SC through that bars. Continue SC until you have
approximately 21.5 cm (8.5 inches)* cord.
* The length varies depending on what size you’re making and how deep the lowest point of
chevron on the body. Please make the BODY pattern for at least 5 rounds and measure the depth
(A). Your straps length would be: [Armhole Depth (see measurement chart on page 2)-A] x 2
For example, I’m making size S and armhole depth should be 6.5-7”, my chevron depth is 2 ¾”.
So my straps length would be: [7-2 ¾] x 2 = 8.5”

Round 5:
At this point, the chevron would have a more certain shape. Measure it to make sure it suits your bust
circumference. Measure the highest point of the chevron to the lowest point perpendicularly so you can
calculate how long your straps would be. You can also attach the straps now to the peaks of the chevron.
