POLICIES FOR CITIZEN COMMENTS Lubbock City Council Regular Meeting To speak during the citizen comment period, make a written request to the City Managers office at least 7 days in advance of the meeting indicating name, address, and subject. The citizen comment period is limited to 30 minutes. Those who have not made a timely request will be allowed to speak if time permits. LISD Trustee Meeting To appear, submit a written request to the superintendent by noon 7 days before the meeting. Include name, address, phone, and subject matter. Citizens wishing to speak to a specific item after the agenda is posted may do so if they have a conference with the superintendent by noon 2 days before the meeting. Remarks are limited to 5 minutes. Delegations of more than five must appoint one individual to present their views. VOTER REGISTRATION To vote in an election, you must be: registered to vote in Lubbock County; a citizen; at least 18 years old; not on parole, probation or in prison for a felony; not have been declared mentally incompetent by a court. To register contact Office of Elections & Voter Registration 1308 Crickets Avenue, Lubbock, TX 79401 806.775.1339; 8:30 -5:00 Mon.-Fri. The application can also be downloaded from www.sos.state.tx.us. You may register to vote at any time, but to vote in a particular election your application must be postmarked or received 30 days prior to the election. A voter registration certificate will be mailed to you in about 30 days. A new certificate will be mailed to you every 2 years. Voter registration remains valid until you move or no longer meet the criteria to vote. To change your name or residence within Lubbock County, contact the Office of Elections and Voter Registration or complete the form at www.sos.state.tx.us . If you move to a new county, you must reregister in that county. When you go to vote, bring identification. A voter registration certificate is best, but without the certificate you can still vote with a drivers license or other identification. During early voting, you can vote at any polling location. On election day, you can only vote at the precinct listed above your name on your voter certificate. Information on polling locations can be obtained from the Office of Elections or the League of Women Voters (744-0023).
