Royal Tulip Shawl

For this pattern I made a crochet chart, a picture tutorial and a detailed
description of every row. The numbers in bold correspond with the
numbers in the pictures. The row numbers correspond with the numbers in
the chart.

Yarn
Lana Grossa Cool Wool, 50 g/ 160 m (175 yards/1.76 ounces) , 100% wool. 3
skeins of dark grey (412), 1 skein of white (431), 1 skein of honey yellow
(2035).
Hook size: 3,5 mm (E). Do not crochet too tight.
Gauge: 17 stitches= 10 cm (4”) (measured at the edge)

Measurements
Height in the middle ± 80 cm (31.5”). Width at the top ± 160 cm (63”).

Special stitches:
3DC-cl: *YO, insert hook in 1st
indicated stitch. Pull up a loop
and draw through 2 loops*.
Repeat * 2 more times for the
next 2 stitches. YO and pull
through 4 loops.

SC-sp: insert hook in the indicated space below you are currently working. Pull up a loop. Make sure you
pull up the loop to the same height as the row you are working in. YO and pull through 2 loops. This way
you work over the previous rows making an elongated SC.

2DC-cl: *YO, insert hook into indicated space and pull up a loop, YO and pull through 2 loops. Repeat *
once more in same space. YO and pull through 3 loops.

PIC: Ch 3. Insert hook in 1st Ch and make a sl st.

Base
For the base I used 3 skeins of dark grey. Turn your work after every row. Stitches are made in the chains
not around.

Chart 2: top of base

After the last time row 7 you crochet in chart 2 the red stitches:

Ch 9, *SC in 3rd Ch of 5 Ch-sp, Ch 5, SC in top of 3DC-cl, Ch 5*. Repeat * until the end. SC in 7th Ch of
previous row. TR in the 4th Ch of previous row and fasten off. The base is now finished. (6)

Edging
White: See chart 3 in red. Start at any point at the top of the base on a SC above a 3DC-cl. This ensures
you will end correctly at the tips of the shawl. After every row you may turn your work as you wish.

Royal Tulip omslagdoek

Voor dit patroon heb ik zowel een schema als foto’s, en elke rij
uitgeschreven. De rijnummers corresponderen met de nummers in het
schema. De dik gedrukte nummers met de nummers van de foto’s.

Garen
Lana Grossa Cool Wool, 50 g/ 160 m, 100% wol. 3 bollen kleur donker grijs
gemêleerd (412), 1 bol wit (431), 1 bol honinggeel (2035).
Haaknaald: 3,5 mm. Haak niet te strak.
Gauge: 17 steken= 10 cm (de rand gemeten)

Afmetingen
Hoogte in het midden ±80 cm. Breedte van de bovenkant ± 160 cm.

Steken
Afkorting en symbolen zie schema
hiernaast. Voor een aantal steken geef ik
hieronder extra uitleg.

3STcluster: *maak een omslag, steek

haaknaald in 1e aangegeven steek en haal
een lus op, maak een omslag en haal door 2
lussen*. Herhaal * nog 2 maal voor de 2e en
3e aangegeven steken. Maak een omslag en
haal door 4 lussen heen.

VP: steek haaknaald in de aangegeven opening een aantal rijen lager. Haal een lus op. Zorg dat deze op
dezelfde hoogte komt als de rij waar je in aan het werk bent. Maak een omslag en haal door de 2 lussen.
Je haakt hierbij over de voorgaande rijen en maakt eigenlijk een verlengde V.

2STmoes: *maak een omslag, steek haaknaald in aangegeven steek en haal een lus op, maak een omslag
en haal door 2 lussen*. Herhaal * nogmaals in dezelfde steek. Maak een omslag en haal door de 3 lussen.

PIC: haak 3 L. Steek haaknaald in 1e L en maak een HV.

Basis
De basis wordt gehaakt met 3 bollen grijs. Keer je werk bij elke rij. Steken worden in de L gemaakt niet er
omheen, zodat de steek niet kan schuiven.

Schema 2: bovenkant basis

Na de laatste keer rij 7 haak je in schema 2 de rode steken:

9 L, *V in 3e L van 5 L-boog, 5 L, V in top 3STcluster, 5 L*. Herhaal * tot het einde. V in 7e L van vorige
rij. Haak dan nog een DST in de 4e L van de vorige rij en hecht af. De basis is nu klaar. (6)

Randen
Wit: Zie schema 3 in rood. Begin op een willekeurige plek aan de bovenrand op een V boven een
3STcluster. Dit zorgt er voor dat je op de punten goed uit komt. Je kan zelf kiezen om je werk te keren na
elke rij.
