Digital Portfolio Lesson

Overview:
Digital portfolios created in PowerPoint, will contain any and all artifacts created
in computer class.

Grade Levels: 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8. Students with LD will be able to create the


portfolio using the same guidelines.

Skill Objective:
The Student will be able to: Create a PowerPoint that will be used as a container of
projects created in the digital format.
The Student will be able to: Evaluate past assignments and recollect or reflect on the
assignment and what they learned by completing the assignment.
The Student will be able to: Remember the lesson and understand the purposes of each lesson.
The Student will be able to: apply each lesson to future lessons and activities.

Procedures:
A. Location of assignment: the computer lab
B. Software needed: PowerPoint 2010, Word 2010, and also Publisher 2010,
Photoshop Elements 9, Audacity, Movie Maker.
C. This first lesson will take approximately 45 minutes, however, subsequent
lessons will 30 minutes.
D. Students will have prior knowledge of PowerPoint, Word, Excel, etc. Students will
need to understand inserting and combining documents from other applications.
E. Start the lesson: “It seems the new buzz word this year is the word Portfolio”.
I know that you are creating portfolios in Art and Math, and now you will create a
portfolio in Computer class. ---do you understand what the term
Portfolio means? It is a collection of work.” (Previous classes have already begun
building portfolios---tailor the intro to fit each class.)
F. Students will be introduced to PowerPoint and how to add new slides, include
content, insert documents created in Word, insert Audio, and record a narration.
G. As each future computer class lesson is concluded and graded, students will insert
the lesson onto a slide within the PowerPoint and reflect on the assignment.

Assessment:
Students will be assessed monthly based on the attached rubric.
