electromagnetic coupling. Both finite element analysis and a
magnetic equivalent circuit were used to test and analyze the
magnetic coupling effect. Using this magnetic equivalent circuit, a
linear control model for the electromagnets was also obtained. And
the validity of the obtained experimental results was verified using
a custom-made full-sized model, and the system applicability was
analyzed.

I. INTRODUCTION Fig. 1. Levitation and guidance system of semi-high-speed Maglev trains.

Maglev trains are suitable candidates to satisfy the
requirement for next generation transport system. The levitation
and guidance systems of semi-high-speed Maglev trains are
composed of electromagnetic suspensions. The levitation and
guidance magnets are electromagnetically coupled because of
their structural close proximity. The levitation and guidance
systems discussed in this paper are modeled and analyzed using
finite element analysis (FEA). And force equations are derived
from their magnetic equivalent circuit. The validity of the Fig. 2. Obtained FEA results, magnetic equivalent circuit, and force equation
