The Gross Domestic Product shrank by 12.2% year-on-year in
the second quarter of 2020
Revised 2.0% contraction in Q1 and compared with market
consensus of a 13.3% plunge
Worst economic downturn since the second quarter 1998
On the production side, output contracted mostly for
agriculture (-3.2%), manufacturing (-14.4%), transportation and
storage (-38.9%), accommodation and food service activities (-
50.2%), administrative and support services activities (-25%)
The economy shrank by 6.9% for the first half of the year 2020

1. Pesticide Import
The amount and value of import reached the peak in
2011 and declined during 2013-2014 and 2018-2019
Imports had increased to the amount of 102,231 tons in
2017
Major import: insecticide, fungicide, and herbicide
The import quantity and value of the herbicide was the
highest, 53,858 tons in 2019
A decline in importation may be considered by the policy
of restricted and banned pesticides
