Lesson 1: First what is pre-writing process?

The formulation and organization of ideas preparatory to writing. Prewriting is the "generating ideas" part
of the writing process when the student or any writer works to determine the topic for a target audience or
readers.

We cannot produce a paper all in one go; writing includes a step by step process that we have to carefully
follow. We have to be patient in following each steps in the process.

To fully understand the process of writing, we need to follow each of these steps in pre-writing. One of the
hardest tasks in writing is finding the topic to write about. It rarely happens that you can pinpoint the topic
in an instant.

Brainstorming, freewriting, and clustering are all steps in choosing a topic.

Brainstorming is the process of coming up with as many ideas as possible about a topic without being
worried about the feasibility or whether an idea is realistic or not. A list format is often the easiest to
organize. This can be done individually and then shared with the class or done as a group. Access to this
list during the writing process can help students make connections they may want to use later in their
writing.

Freewriting is used to generate ideas similar to brainstorming. But in this you will just need to write any
idea that comes to your mind. Putting down what ideas you think of . The free write strategy is when your
students write whatever comes into their mind about the topic at hand. In a free write, students should not
worry about grammar, punctuation, or spelling.

Clustering- to do a cluster or “mind map,” writing our general subject down in the middle of a piece of
paper. Then, using the whole sheet of paper, rapidly jot down ideas related to that subject. If an idea
relate to other ideas, link them together using lines and circles to form a cluster of ideas. The whole
purpose here is to use lines and circles to show visually how your ideas relate to one another and to the
main subject. Like the main idea is the words tour guide it is all about good communication skills,
knowledgeable, must like the outdoors and organized.

The next step is to make sure that you focus on one idea that you are going to discuss thoroughly in your
paper, for example any topic that comes to your mind.

Once you know your topic next the reason why you are writing or explaining like the writing assignments
we have been do in high school. If we are asked to write a report paper we are expected to give factual
account of events, discoveries. If we are tasked to write a reaction paper you would know that you are
writing a gut reaction.

The last step in pre-writing is knowing our purpose and identifying your reader or audience. It helps to
communicate clearly our ideas which is the goal of all writing. Knowledge of who our audience is what
they need and what interests are will us adjust our language, tone, and style in writing.
