CRIM RESEARCH 2A

ARUMPAC, JAMIL R. BS-CRIM IV

“Reflection Paper”

After reading the attached article entitled “Research Ethics in Criminology”, I learned

what are those ethical issues and code of ethics that we must consider in conducting a research

about criminology. Research Ethics in Criminology is an article that tackles about the current

issue and debates which included the Ethical Issues in Criminological Fieldwork, Ethical

Guidance for Criminological Researchers, and The Ethical policing of Criminological Research.

It also discussed the moral obligations of those who would engage in research with ‘deviant

subjects’. In my own point of view, this article is very essential for criminology students since it

serves as a guide in planning to conduct a criminological research. It gives the researchers an

idea on how to conduct and what to conduct in some particular places. It also makes the

researchers aware of the issues involved so that they can make informed decisions about the

implications of certain choices. We all know that conducting a research is quietly complex

especially when you do not have any idea what research it and when you are not aware of the

topic you are studying. As researchers, we must know the importance of ethics because it is one

of the most important elements pertaining research for the reason that it provides us the map on

how the research can or should and where be conducted. As what I have observed in our

previous research study, I can suggest that in order for the researchers to understand their study

in an easy way, they have to make a thorough study about it details by details so that in that way,

they are able to dig those some conflicts that they must focus on so that they can conclude

techniques in resolving those conflicts.
