A BA Liberal Arts Program is intended to give a student a chance to explore the best of all
social science and humanities-based disciplines which will enable them to grasp a
multidisciplinary approach to learning at depth. The focus will be on overall development of
the student through an eclectic mix of perspectives from diverse disciplines aimed at holistic
development of the individual as socially engaged and informed citizens.
In the first three semesters, the students will be introduced to broad based courses from a
range of disciplines including English, History, Psychology and Economics. The students
may choose to specialise in any one discipline from the fourth semester onwards.
The students may also decide to pursue a diploma after three years of degree coursework at
the university.
The following courses may/ would be offered to the students over the course of six semesters
Semester -1
A list of elective courses will be offered to the students from SLASS which will be
published at the beginning of every semester.
Semester III
A list of elective courses will be offered to the students from SLASS which will be
published at the beginning of every semester.
In semesters 4, 5 and 6 , the students can choose to ‘specialise’ in one of the core disciplines
and take a set of courses from the respective departments. Additionally, the student is
expected to complete 4 Allied Courses for 16 credits from two sister disciplines, two Open
Electives of 8 credits (4 each) from a list of electives offered by the university.
