The technical information and data included in this offer are part of our specific know-how and
have to be kept confidential.
With todays’ offer we have considered all specific demands received by you with the inquiry.
The proposed melter is a recuperative, side fired furnace designed with appliance of the most
advantage technology.
The furnace is designed with a melting area of 40 m². The melting range of this furnace will be
70 tpd fossil heated in a 1st production stage.
Later on, in a 2nd production stage the melting range can be pulled up to 100 tpd by installation
of an additional melting boosting (see options).
The recuperator system is of high quality European supplier and equipped with all necessary
safety and protection functions.
The glass bath itself is divided into a melting and refining section by means of a barrier wall.
The barrier wall prevents short-circuit flows of the glass into the throat and supports the flow
circuit in the glass bath. Optimum refining of the glass is thereby achieved. In addition, the
height of the barrier walls is adjusted to the required throat temperature.
The refining area, which is appropriately dimensioned by HORN after the barrier wall, gives
the glass time for optimum refining. The height of the glass in the refining area is adjusted
according to the glass color and the required refining time.
The throat and riser are matched in terms of width and height so as to achieve an improved
flow pattern and a long service life of the refractory material.
All the special HORN design figures guarantees an optimum of glass pull rate in respect of
energy consumption, glass quality and environmental friendly long operating life time.
Heating of the furnace will be effected by means of Natural Gas with an air casing . The in-
house developed burners are designed for perfect adjustment of the flame shape to guarantee a
high heat transfer to the glass and low environmental emissions (e.g. NOx).
All utility stations of the combustion system are delivered pre-assembled, tested and ready for
connection. This ensures reduced installation time and a safe operation.
To slow down the corrosion of critical refractory parts (tank flux line and throat) a specifically
designed air cooling system is installed. The capacity of the fans, diameter of the pipe work
and the nozzles are perfectly adapted to achieve high cooling efficiency.
In order the insure a stable glass level and reduced wear of the refractory material at the flux
line we offer the Kühnreich & Meixner optical glass level measuring, Tipping Type. This unit
measures the glass level contactless with an accuracy of 0,1 mm.
The batch is charged through the HORN vibratory batch charging machine HVR. This type
of machines is equipped with a vibratory chute and a pusher paddle which pushes the batch into
the furnace. Together with a heat protection shield in front of the machine and a separate
doghouse cover both – shield and cover – close the doghouse to reduce dusting of raw materials
and minimize cold air incoming.
The so created batch layer on the surface of the glass melt can be observed with a TV-Camera
which is installed at the throat gable wall of the furnace. The picture of the camera can be seen
at a monitor in the control room.
At this room also all the measurement and control system is installed. The offered PLC
system is an essential part to guaranty stable and reproducible production parameters in the
melting end.
The following fully automatic control loops are foreseen for the furnace and can be adjusted
with a touch panel or the superimposed SCADA system:
- Furnace temperature control and fuel/air ratio control
- Furnace pressure through injector or control flap
- Glass level control
A compulsory functional safety technology for high temperature processes is included in our
equipment to fulfil the latest EC regulations and standards, e.g. DIN EN 746-2.
The electric unit includes the MCC (Machine Control Cabinet) for all supplied motors and
gears. Electrical protection grade and lightning protection measures are in accordance with the
international standards.
At the latest technology, as good as possible, all the equipment is noise reduced, environmental
protected and safe for the workers.

Technical specifications and / or guaranty values in the offer are binding only if the customer
buys components or goods supplied by himself in accordance with the given specifications by
HORN.
Guaranty values are only valid under condition the raw materials meet the specification of
HORN. HORN specification can be provided upon request and are attached as Annex. If
customer's own raw material specifications are available, these can be taken into account once
they are submitted to HORN.

3. Certification and Confirmation:
HORN assumes that the plants and machines sold by HORN are used exclusively for the
agreed purposes, above all however the knowledge, as far as it is HORN know-how, attained
thereby, may neither directly nor indirectly passed on to a third party, used for the registration
and/or acquisition of patent rights, or without the written agreement from HORN, do the
preparation, admission or execution of own activities outside of the agreed purpose in the own
or third party business premises.
The buyer of plants and machines of HORN assures, by acceptance of this offer explicitly,
that these plants and machines are not continued to supply any persons or organizations,
which are involved into illegal activities nor supply it to countries and at organizations, which
are subject to an embargo of the Federal Republic of Germany.
4. Duties and Taxes:
All occurring duties and taxes for whatever purpose applicable in the country of the customer,
or country were the equipment exported to or were the installation will take place are not
included in the price offered by HORN Glass Industries AG and to be borne by customer.
5. Place of fulfilment and jurisdiction
Place of fulfilment and jurisdiction is Weiden i. d. Opf. German Law is applicable.

documentary letter of credit, opened and confirmed at a German Bankhouse.
