SILABUS CO-CURRICULAR ENGLISH PROGRAM

MARITIME POLYTECHNIC OF BAROMBONG

I. Purpose of Study:

This study aims to increase the Cadets’ English proficiency in general both in speaking and
writing skill. Supporting the relevance of Cadets’ future need in their career, this co-curricular
activity also emphasis on some communication skills they need. After this program Cadets are
expected to be able to speak English passively or passively.

II. Competency standard:

Cadets are expected to be able to speak English especially in speaking and writing. After this
program, Cadets are expected to be able to:

- Introduce themselves in English


- Classify word classes (Part of Speech)
- Compose sentences using the correct tenses
- Compose WH Question
- Describe people and things
- Ask and Give direction
- Make cover letter and CV in English

III. Approach of Study

This study use varieties approach, especially expository, communicative, contextual, and inquiry.
Whereas, the methods are speech, answer the questions, discussing, and solving problem.
Specifications of this study are as follow:

a. The instructor explains the material related to the topic


b. The instructor gives feedback to the Cadets in form of questions to measure cadets
understanding
c. The instructor gives activities as evaluation related to given material in (can be in
listening, speaking, reading, or writing skill)

7. Writing cover letter and resume (1 x 90 minutes)

V. Evaluation
The result of study will be evaluated by:
a. The evaluation of each material
b. Participation during the class
