COURSE SYLLABUS IN PHYSICAL EDUCATION 2

Course Name RECREATIONAL ACTIVITIES (FOUNDATIONS OF PHYSICAL FITNESS AND
HEALTH)

Course Description The purpose of this course is to enable students to develop knowledge and skills in 
recreational activities and maintain or improve health‐related fitness.
The content should include, but not be limited to the following: safety practices, rul
es, terminology, sportsmanship, etiquette, history of recreational activities, correct
techniques in performing skills, strategies, officiating, organizing and administratio
n of recreational activities, 
consumer issues, benefits of participation, fitness activities, assessment of
skills and  fitness assessments. And Skill‐
related and maintenance/improvement of health‐related components of fitness
Activities may include, but not limited to fishing, biking, skating, folk dance, and
square dance.

Learning 1. Understand how systematic exercise and physical activity stimulates changes
Outcomes that are beneficial in the body;

2. Understand how physical activity and exercises for fitness reduce the risk of
many diseases and helps us deal with stress while reducing anxiety and
depression;

3. Understand the basics of nutrition and start a personalized weight control


program focusing on physical activity, food choices, and behavior; and

4. Develop a personal fitness program based on age, fitness level and goals, and
prepare for athletic competition safely and effectively.

Aside from the final output, the students are assessed at other times during the term by the following:
