Measuring tools are essential in shop works such as fabrication and production of

machine parts.

Full understanding on the applications of various measuring tools and marking tools
makesthe job easier and quicker. The correct and proper use of tools, if practiced
consistently, helps maintain the tools in good working conditions and ensures quality
workmanship.

The dial indicator measurement should not exceed 0.05 mm on all foot indicating that all
soft foot has been removed. Make sure that once you are finished with this procedure, at
least one of its feet is free from any shim plate and it does not exceed 12 mm in total for
each foot. You can use the feeler gauge to measure the thickness needed on each foot
and the outside micrometer to measure the thickness of the shim plate to be fabricated.
