The Annual Meeting is a dynamic forum for the exchange of the latest scientific and clinical
advances in tropical medicine and global health. These abstracts, presented as either oral
presentations or posters, are the cornerstone of the meeting’s scientific content.

Acceptance notices: Acceptance notices will be emailed to the abstract submitter in
mid-September 2019. If the abstract submitter’s email changes after creating an account
with the submission system, please email info@astmh.org with the name and updated email.
Presentation dates: Abstracts may be assigned for presentation at any time during the
Annual Meeting on November 21-24, 2019. Presenting authors will be notified of their
specific date and time assignments in mid-September 2019. Please note that ASTMH
cannot guarantee scheduling of an abstract on a specific day or time. Abstract presenters
should maintain schedule availability throughout the Annual Meeting.
Media interest: Some research findings may be of special interest to the general public
or the science journalism community. An optional field is provided for you to provide a
brief description of why you believe your work might be of interest to the media.
Publication: All accepted abstracts will be published in the ASTMH Annual Meeting
Program Book, Abstract Book, Online Program Planner and Meeting App. Abstracts are
published approximately 2.5 months in advance of the Annual Meeting in the Online
Program Planner. Abstract publication in these venues does NOT preclude later full
publication in scientific journals.

Due to the high volume of submissions, the acceptance rate for Late-Breaker oral presentations
is usually approximately 5%. Due to print deadlines, Late-Breaker session agendas and
abstracts are published online only and do not appear in the Program Book. The submission
fee for Late-Breaker Abstracts is $75.
Because of the more stringent evaluation criteria for Late-Breaker Abstracts, ASTMH
encourages submitters to target the routine abstract deadline of April 10, 2019. The Late-
Breaker deadline should not be used as a back-up. The Society appreciates that considerable
research data may be collected between the standard deadline and the Annual Meeting. When
such situations are anticipated, submitters are advised to nevertheless submit their abstracts
