THROMBOTIC

THROMBOCYTOPENIC
PURPURA

❖ Thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura

is a rare disorder that causes blood
clots (thrombi) to form in small blood
vessels throughout the body. These
clots can cause serious medical
problems if they block vessels and
restrict blood flow to organs such as
the brain, kidneys, and heart.
ANEMIA OF
CHRONIC DISEASE

❖ Anemia of inflammation, also

called anemia of chronic disease
or ACD, is a type of anemia that
affects people who have
conditions that cause
inflammation, such as infections,
autoimmune diseases, cancer link,
and chronic kidney disease (CKD).
HEMOCHROMATOSIS

❖ A condition in which the body takes up and

stores more iron than it needs. The extra
iron is stored in the liver, heart, and
pancreas, which may cause liver disease,
heart problems, organ failure, and cancer.
IMMUNE
THROMBOCYTOPENIC
PURPURA
❖ A condition in which platelets (blood
cells that cause blood clots to form)
are destroyed by the immune system.
The low platelet count causes easy
bruising and bleeding, which may be
seen as purple areas in the skin,
mucous membranes, and outer linings
of organs.
LEUKOCYTOSIS

❖ Leukocytosis, abnormally high number

of white blood cells (leukocytes) in the
blood circulation, defined as more than
10,000 leukocytes per cubic millimeter
of blood. Leukocytosis is most
commonly the result of infection.
SICKLE CELL ANEMIA

❖ In sickle cell anemia, some red blood cells

look like sickles used to cut wheat. These
unusually shaped cells give the disease
its name. Sickle cell anemia is one of a
group of inherited disorders known as
sickle cell disease. It affects the shape of
red blood cells, which carry oxygen to all
parts of the body.
IRON DEFICIENCY ANEMIA

❖ As the name implies, iron deficiency

anemia is due to insufficient iron. Without
enough iron, your body can't produce
enough of a substance in red blood cells
that enables them to carry oxygen
(hemoglobin). As a result, iron deficiency
anemia may leave you tired and short of
breath.
POLYCYTHEMIA VERA

❖ Polycythemia vera is a rare blood disorder in

which there is an increase in all blood cells,
particularly red blood cells. The increase in
blood cells makes the blood thicker. Thick
blood can lead to strokes or tissue and organ
damage.
APLASTIC ANEMIA

❖ Aplastic anemia is a form of bone

marrow failure. Marrow, the soft,
fatty tissue inside bones, is the place
where new blood cells are formed. In
aplastic anemia, the bone marrow
does not produce new cells, leaving
the body susceptible to bleeding and
infection
LEUKOPENIA

❖ A condition in which there is a lower-than-

normal number of leukocytes (white blood
cells) in the blood.
