THESIS PROPOSAL EVALUATION GUIDELINES


I. RUBRIC FOR WRITTEN THESIS
CRITERIA DESCRIPTION SCORE
CHAPTER 1  Introduction. The researchers clearly 40
present the overview of the study and
provide significance of the research
problems. The content is logically presented.
(8 points)
 Conceptual/ Theoretical Framework. It
presents a strong cohesive and
comprehensive theoretical or conceptual
basis for the study presenting insightful and
smart explanation for the overall inquiry. (8
points)
 Research Questions and Objectives of
the Study. The problem of the study reflects
systematic comprehensible and explicit
manner. The objectives of the study has
shown connectivity or related along the
steps of research. (8 points)
 Rationale and Significance. The
significance is clearly established with
indications for future studies included. (8
points)
 Definition of Key Terms and Constructs.
The researchers have clearly defined,
explained and briefly cited key words
according to the use on specific research. It
shows easy understandable for the readers
to deeply comprehend the content of the
study. (8 points)
CHAPTER 2  Critical Review of Literatures and 30
Studies. This displays bulk amount of
information being reviewed to provide
relevance to the conducted study. (10
points)
 Critic and Analysis. The literature review
indicates a clear analysis and critique of
each topic area guided by research
question. (10 points)
 Synthesis. It is clearly stated and this
provides general or summative review or
analysis of the cited literatures and studies.
(10 points)

Appropriate research designed has been
used. The research methodology has
logically derived from the problem/ issues.
The scope or strategy of the inquiry flows
clearly for the stated problem. There is
comprehensive relationships among the
problems, cited authorities, plan of inquiry
and conclusions. (5 points)
 Data Collection Method and Tool. Data
collection method, the instruments, the role
of the researcher and the procedures are
clearly justified and described in detail. (10
points)
 Validity, Trustworthiness and Treatment
Integrity. The extent an instrument is able to
actually measure what it is supposed to
measure. There must be consistency,
stability, or dependability of the data. (10
points)
 Settings, Sample and Data Sources. The
research setting, sample, participant
selection procedures and data sources are
very clearly described and justified in relation
to the research questions. (5 points)

Content  A general audience could understand the 20

and background information provided.
