A SEMI-DETAILED LESSON PLAN IN ENGLISH FOR GRADE 10

I. Objectives
At the end of the lesson, the students should be able to:
a. identify the principles of speech writing;
b. use principles of effective speech writing focusing on audience; and
c. foster healthy relationship between the speaker and audience through using polite
words.
II. Subject Matter
a. Topic: Principles of Speech Writing
b. References: Oral Communication in Context by Ramona S. Flores (p.113-119)
c. Time Allotment: 45 minutes
d. Materials: PowerPoint, Laptop, Video Clip

III. Procedure
A. Preliminary of the Lesson
a. Review: The teacher will have a lesson recap by letting the students answer an
activity.
1. Reading from a manuscript
2. Memorized speech
3. Impromptu speech
4. Extemporaneous speech

B. Motivation: The teacher will ask the student what word comes to their mind when
they hear the words “Speech Writing” The students will enter a kahoot link and write
there their answer. From their answers, the students will create their own definition of
speech writing.
C. Presentation of the Lesson: The teacher will ask the students on what do they think of
the topic for today.
D. Lesson Proper
a. The teacher will discuss about the first principle if speech writing.
b. The teacher will discuss about the second principle if speech writing.
c. Audience Analysis Activity
Direction: Conduct an audience analysis on the class as they will be the
listeners to the final class activity, an extemporaneous

d. The teacher will discuss about the third principle if speech writing.
e. The teacher will discuss about the fourth principle if speech writing.
f. Scrambled Outline Activity

IV. Evaluation
The students will be asked to answer the following questions:
1-4 Enumerate the four principle of speech writing.
5. It is a word meant to impart a message to listeners.
6. It is one of the major factors that determine the uniqueness of the speech.
7-8. Give 2 type of outline.
9-10. Give 2 examples of reliable sources in making a speech.
