XI PHYSICS HOLIDAY ASSIGNMENT (2022-2023)
1. Which physical quantity does √𝜆𝑔 represents?
2. The density of a material in cgs system of units is 3 gm/cm3 . In a system of units where unit
of length is 10 cm and unit of mass is 100 g the numerical value of density of material will be.
3. A gas bubble from an explosion under water, oscillates with a period T proportional to
𝑝𝑎𝑑𝑏𝐸𝑐, where 𝑝 𝑖𝑠 the static pressure, d is the density of water and E is the total energy of
the explosion. Find the values of a, b and c?
4. Check the correctness of the relation : ½ mv2 = mgh ,where ‘m’ is mass , v is velocity, g is
acceleration due to gravity and h is the height.
𝑛 −𝑛
5. The number of particles is given by n = -D [ 2 1] are crossing a unit area perpendicular to x-
𝑥2−𝑥1
axis in unit time. 𝑛1 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝑛2 are the number of particles per unit volume for the value of
𝑥 meant to be 𝑥1 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝑥2. What is the dimensional formula of diffusion constant D?
6. A motor boat is racing towards north at 25km/h and the water current in that region is 10
km/h in the direction 600 east of south. Find the resultant velocity of the boat.
7. Two billiard balls are rolling on a flat table .One has the velocity components Vx = 1 m/s ,
Vy = √3 m/s and the other has components Vx’ =2 m/s and Vy’ =2m/s .If both the balls
starts moving from the same point ,what is the angle between their paths.
8. A rifle that shoots bullets at 460 m/s is to aim at a target 45.7 m away .If the centre of the
target is level with the rifle , how high above the target must the rifle barrel be pointed so
that the bullet hits the target.
9. A person travelling on a straight line moves with a uniform velocity 𝑣1 for a distance ’x’ and
with uniform velocity 𝑣2 for a distance’2x’. Find the average velocity.
10. A body starting from rest accelerates uniformly along a straight line, at the rate of 10 m/s2
for 5 sec. It moves for 2s with uniform velocity of 50 m/s. Then it retards uniformly and
comes to rest in 3s. Draw velocity-time graph of the body and find the total distance
travelled by body.
11. A car starts from rest and accelerates for 10s to gain a velocity of 20m/s. It then runs at
constant speed and finally brought to rest in 40m with a constant retardation. If the total
distance covered is 640 m, find the value of acceleration, retardation and total time taken.
12. An observer standing near a window 5 m high observe that an object falling downwards is
passing across the window in 0.5 s. Find at what height above the window the object was
dropped. (g = 10 m/s2).
13. A particle moves along x – axis in such a way that its co – ordinate x varies with time ‘t’,
according to the expression, 𝑥 = 2 + 5𝑡2+6𝑡3 meter. Find (i) expressions for instantaneous
velocity and acceleration (ii) initial velocity and initial acceleration (iii)Identify the type of
motion.
14. A car travelling at 20 m/s due north along the highway makes a right turn on to a side road
that heads due east. It takes 50 s for the car to complete the turn. At the end of 50s, the car
has a speed of 15 m/s along the side road. Determine the magnitude of average acceleration
over the 50 s interval.
15. Two forces whose magnitude are in the ratio 3:5 gives a resultant 35N. If the angle between
the two forces is 60°, find the magnitude of each force.
