Part II. Direction: Research the history and describe the 5 examples of trademark used by the companies
below :
1. Jollibee
In 1975, Tony Tan Caktiong and his family opened a Magnolia ice cream parlor in Cubao, Quezon
City. The outlet later began offering hot meals and sandwiches upon request from customers.
When the food items became more popular than ice cream, the family decided to convert the
ice cream parlor into a fast food restaurant, which became the first Jollibee outlet in 1978.
Management consultant Manuel C. Lumba advised the family on the change in strategy. Jollibee
was initially named "Jolibe", but changed its name to "Jollibee".
Trademarks
Today, Jollibee Foods Corporation uses 8 proprietary brands (including “Jollibee” for their core
fast food business, “Greenwich” for their pizza and pasta chain, and “Chowking” for their
oriental food outlets), owns many trademarks (including “Bee Happy”, “Yumburger”,
“Chickenjoy” and “Amazing Aloha”) and has registered all of its logos, some of them in several
countries.
2. Mc Donald’s
Dick and Mac McDonald moved to California to seek opportunities they felt unavailable in New
England. Failing in the movie business, they subsequently proved successful in operating drive-in
restaurants. In 1948 they took a risk by streamlining their operations and introducing their
Speedee Service System featuring 15 cent hamburgers. The restaurant’s success led the
brothers to begin franchising their concept—nine becoming operating restaurants. At the San
Bernadino location, Dick and Mac McDonald perfected their Speedee Service System featuring a
limited menu including fifteen cent hamburgers, shakes and fries. The brothers sold 14
franchises of which 10 became operating restaurants not including their original location in San
Bernardino.

3. Coca Cola
The drink Coca-Cola was originated in 1886 by an Atlanta pharmacist, John S. Pemberton (1831–
88), at his Pemberton Chemical Company. His bookkeeper, Frank Robinson, chose the name for
the drink and penned it in the flowing script that became the Coca-Cola trademark.

4. Intel
At its founding, Intel was distinguished by its ability to make logic circuits using semiconductor
devices. The founders' goal was the semiconductor memory market, widely predicted to replace
magnetic-core memory. Its first product, a quick entry into the small, high-speed memory
market in 1969, was the 3101 Schottky TTL bipolar 64-bit static random-access memory (SRAM),
which was nearly twice as fast as earlier Schottky diode implementations by Fairchild and the
Electrotechnical Laboratory in Tsukuba, Japan. In the same year, Intel also produced the 3301
Schottky bipolar 1024-bit read-only memory (ROM) and the first commercial metal–oxide–
semiconductor field-effect transistor (MOSFET) silicon gate SRAM chip, the 256-bit 1101.
