KU Online BGS Degree
The College of Liberal Arts & Sciences is pleased to offer two online degree completion
options. These programs are designed for students with 60 or more credit hours.
The Liberal Arts & Sciences – BGS degree is a flexible degree option that offers students
maximum transfer credit eligibility. The requirements consist of:
1. Completion of all 6 goals of the KU Core (students with a completed Associate of Arts
degree from a regionally accredited Kansas school will have KU Core Goals 1-3
waived). Typically KU Core Goals 4-6 are completed at KU.
(36 credit hours)
4. Remaining credit hours needed to reach the minimum of 120 hours required to
graduate from KU can be taken as electives. 45 of the 120 hours must be at the Jr/Sr
(300+) level.
The Psychology – BGS degree has the same requirements as our on-campus Psychology major,
also requires completion of a minor. Currently we are able to offer the Sociology minor online.
Students planning to pursue the Psychology major with Sociology minor should plan on
completing the following at Neosho:
1. Goals 1-3 of the KU Core, including ENGL 101, ENGL 102, MATH 101, and BIOL 100.
Students with an Associate of Arts degree from a regionally accredited Kansas school
will have KU Core Goals 1-3 waived, but will still need MATH 101 and BIOL 100 as
pre-requisites for future Psychology coursework.
2. PSYC 104: General Psychology. Required by the major and can also fulfill KU Core
Goal 3 Social Science.
4. SOC 104: Elements of Sociology. Required by the Sociology minor and also fulfills KU
Core Goals 1.1 Critical Thinking or Goal 4.1: Human Diversity
Once a student transfers to KU they will need to complete the remaining requirements for the
major and minor. (39 credit hours)
Remaining credit hours needed to reach the minimum of 120 hours required to graduate from
KU can be taken as electives. 45 of the 120 hours must be at the Jr/Sr (300+) level.
Please note: no more than 64 hours can be transferred from a community college
