Hospital Name: Fe Del Mundo Global Health Institute

History:
It was during the Second World War in the Philippines when the Japanese occupied the
country, this resulted to poor healthcare and diseases ravaged the lands of Manila. A rising
Filipino business tycoon named Mr. Ras T. Aman, had his only child sick with Pneumonia and
the child’s condition was deteriorating fast. It was due to the intensive and skilled medical
interventions of Dr. Fe Villanueva Del Mundo and her team that they managed to keep Mr.
Aman’s child alive and soon recovered.
Dr. Fe del Mundo pioneered numerous innovations throughout her more than 70-year
medical career. She headed the Department of Pediatrics at Far Eastern University for more than
two decades and founded The Children’s Medical Center Foundation in 1957, bringing medical
care to rural Filipino families with no health care, saving children dying of dehydration and
establishing family planning clinics. Dr. Mundo became close friends with the Aman Family
until her death on 2011.
To honor Dr. Mundo and her great contributions to the healthcare in the Philippines, the
Aman Global Inc. decided to construct an international tertiary hospital in Manila and named it
Fe Del Mundo Global Health Institute.
