UNIT PERFORMANCE TASK WITH MODALITY-BASED

PERFORMANCE STANDARD:
The learners shall be able to perform in groups in guided investigations involving
community-based problems using locally available materials.

SITUATION:
COVID-19 is an on-going global health crisis of our time. While we are learning how to deal with it,
practical ways of taking care of one’s health to fight COVID-19 have accumulated over time through the
news and social media. Some of these ways were effective, but some were not. People at some point
are in a dilemma on what information and practices to implement and what not to. Scientifically reliable
knowledge and practices related to COVID-19 has become the responsibility of experts as people
source and filter reliable knowledge critical to their health and well-being especially on the flooding of
fake and unreliable news all over the various media platforms.

GOAL:
to generate knowledge and create explanations necessary to debunk and or clarify measures and
practices

GRASPS NARRATIVE:

As a member of a team of analytical chemists, medical scientists, and doctors of the Inter-Agency Task
Force for Infections Disease (IATF-ID), you are tasked to conduct a scientific investigation to generate
knowledge and create explanations necessary to debunk and or clarify measures and practices such as
but not limited to the following:

● Disinfecting with any alcohol-based products of varying % concentration

(properties of solution)
● Wearing of any type of material as facemask (properties of mixtures)
● Disinfecting surfaces with home-made chemical formulations (properties of solutions)
● Gargling on the mouth or nasal spraying with acidic/basic solutions (properties of
acids and bases)

Your findings will be presented in an online symposium, infographic, or research article on the IATF-ID
quarterly updates attended by LGU, frontliners and the media representatives for the widest
dissemination. This will also be recorded and made accessible to the Filipino viewers in the DOH
website.

Your output will be evaluated with the following: reliability of the investigative study design, accuracy of
data, comprehensiveness of analysis and conclusion, and impact and quality in communicating the
findings.
