THE KINDEST PERSON...

WHO IS PATCH ADAMS?

He is a Doctor, but he describes himself as

an activist for peace, justice and care for all
people, who developed a special method to
treat people with a difficult diseases. The
key? Laugh and love every single day to
improve the value of life.

The IDEA!

With an amazing group of friends

he created the Gesundheit
Institute, a pilot hospital model,
which they operated for twelve
years out of our communal
home. They were always open
for any kind of problem. Their
policy was: 1) no charge 2) no
health insurance reimbursement
3) no malpractice insurance 4) 3
to 4 hour initial interview with the
patient 5) home as hospital 6)
integration of all the healing arts 7) integration of medicine with performance arts,
arts and crafts, nature, agriculture, education, recreation and social service 8) the
health of the staff is as important as the health of the patient.

New beginning!

In 1985, he took a group of people on a clown trip

to what was then the Soviet Union. Equipped with
colorful clothing and compassion they visited
hospitals, orphanages, homes for the elderly as
well as just clowning on the street. Since then,
these trips have been an integral part of
Gesundheit´s global outreach. Apart from
returning to Russia every year there have been
clown trips to all corners of the world, including
visits to war zones, refugee camps and natural
disaster sites. They have also built clinics and a
school at some of the places we´ve visited. He personally goes on six or seven of
these trips yearly. They are the sweetest healing work he gets to do while he wait
for the hospital.

Better future

He has formed a thousand of people in his philosophy, to treat with love, fun and
truly care of the others. Today he has plans to build a Hospital to attend people for
free. He travels a lot of times per year, going to many places in the world helping
people to have a better time in the hardest moments. In a lot of countries are many
clowns working in child hospitals, with terminal patients using the same method, give
