COURSE DESCRIPTION
This course is designed to provide students with the knowledge on the nature, concept, and
principles of Basic English grammar. Students will practice their language components
(especially grammar) and skills through scientific approach (identifying, analyzing, creating, and
communicating). The materials will cover English parts of speech, modal auxiliaries,
determiners, gerund and infinitives, degree of comparisons, tenses, and passive voice.

COURSE OBJECTIVE
By the end of this course, the students will have theoretical and practical knowledge on Basic
English grammar for oral and written communication.

TEACHING-LEARNING ACTIVITIES
The teaching and learning process will cover in-class activities. Students will have:
 Lectures
 Practices
 Individual works
 Group works

EVALUATION
Students should attend the lecture at the minimum of 80% attendance. Students who are absent
without notifications for 3 meetings will not be allowed to attend the final test. The final score of
this course will be based upon:
 Task (Individual/Group) = 15%
 Quiz (Individual/Group) = 15%
 Mid-term Test (Individual) = 30%
 Final Test (Individual) = 40%
